Meh, nicely shot and Paul Newman is funny as Mussburger. The rest of it is quite annoying.

An aqcuired taste no doubt. But it's so damn masterful! The acting (especially from the great Jennifer Jason Leigh) is wonderful.

And like all Coen Brother films it is as original as anything you could see!

The Coen bros 'comedy of invention' focuses on many themes, but the most prominent of them are business and bureaucracy. In this respect, certain elements of the film are rather similar to Gilliam's Brazil, however the core elements to both pictures is rather different. A zany Coen comedy that mixes very decent performances, some memorable characters and an original and touching climax to extraordinary effect. There is some animosity in my mind to the fact the story is somewhat flat and the main characters aren't given as much breathing space as they should ideally have, which is rather unusual for a Coen brothers' film. Not the best in their back catalogue, but it's still original and mind bending stuff.
