 Which part of any film made you jump the most.  Obviously the head scene in Jaws is a contender, but what about the scene in Exorcist three when the shrouded figure comes out of the hospital room, Sixth Sense in the tent, Dead of Night when the dummy gets up and walks, and of course the TV film of Lady in Black, when she appears over the bed.

I must say that the dead man rising out of the bath in Les Diaboliques was bloody horrific, infact the whole final reel of that film is pretty creepy.
More recently, a scene in Hot Fuzz made me think 'What the fuck!', as it's graphicness was totally unexpected. Im sure all those who have seen it know what I am talking about.

The first time I watched The Descent, was on my computer with headphones on and the sound turned up full. When the monsters first attacked the women in the cave. My colon practically jumped out of my mouth. I literally ripped the headphones off of my head, threw them at the computer, shouted out "HOLY SHIT!!" and ran to the other side of my living room.

 The scene in Signs when you first see the Aliens on the home video at the kids party really caught me off guard.

A friend of mine was watching The Shining when she was twelve (1982), Just at the bit where Jack is chasing the kid through the corridoors, her Mother ran in the room with a big knife screaming, just for a laugh.  I have actually been at the pictures with this girl when she has been sat watching Scream 2, with a DENIM jacket over her head, looking the other way.  Parents eh?    Incidentally, I would have loved to have seen you watching that bit of the Descent.

Talking of The Shining, that black man who Jack kills with the axe is pretty shocking.

 Ringu - the bit at the end with the TV - freaked me the fuck out first time.

Not horror movies, but bits that made jump all the same:

LA Confidential - Spacey gets shot - I blurted out "Oh Fuck!" rather loudly in the cinema.

The Departed - when Di Caprio is about to exit the lift, and BLAM!

Birmingham, 1991, watching this for the first time, scared already by the old lady crawling on the ceiling, saw this bit, Screamed, enjoyed the rest of the film. 1998, Bought it on video, sat back to watch the wifes face,tremendous.  Thank you so much for the picture.  Isn`t it the best of the Exorcist films?

There's a scene in A Tale Of Two Sisters that totally freaks me out despite it being very obvious what's going to happen... The bit with the hands in chains reaching out from under the sink!

Having got the box set for Christmas, I couldn`t agree more.  The music sounds like Batman TV series on Acid. It`s so gratifying to know that other people agree with Exorcist 3 being a good film.

I generally dont jump at scary movies, i seem to be immune to them... Then the bloody descent came out and scared the crap out of me!!!!!

not even seen the whole film. Was channell hopping one night and saw about two or three minutes of it - including this bit - and i damn near soiled myself.

 Signs (Alien in ya hedge) and Decent (Nightvision Camcorder).

The good thing about the Decent is that you saw the sods as soon as they get down the hole behind rocks and stuff. I was chuffed I clocked them so early as my girlfriend didn't see them till the major moment when it's drinking water. I just remember thinking "if this was real I'd be away early but wor lass would get killed"
