I have only seen this advertised on Australian websites, but Deep Space Nine sets are being released on the 12th of April, heres some of the preliminary artwork -

Season 1 -

Season 2 -

Season 3 -

Thats all the artwork they have so far, and it does look pretty preliminary, but Im so happy I waited it out for this show rather than buy the ridiculously expensive boxsets!

EDIT - Just checked Play.com they have them listed for the 30th of April!!!

Link to the first season - http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3325517/Star_Trek_Deep_Space_Nine_Season_1/Product.html

Bugger. Oh well. I've been collecting the big boxsets, so I'll carry on with those.

Given the choice, I think I'd still go for the big boxsets.  Still, they'll most likely retail at around £15, so that may change my mind.  Either way, it's still a big leap for me because I already have them all on video.  Annoyingly, Amazon have just put the bigger boxsets back up in price

Excellent news! My favourite Trek series (sorry Next Gen purists but this one started pretty fully formed compared to that show's shakey first 2 seasons) and after buying the Next Gen sets last year I was praying for these to be re-released in this cheaper format.

Now all I gotta do is wait until the end of the year when they'll be cut-down to aorund £16 each!

Dude, if these are anything like the Slimline Next Gen sets they'll have all the extras their 'bigger brothers' had. Play just haven't listed anything in terms of extras yet as they probably don't have the full release information yet...

Ah-ha!! They do have the extras!!!   Just been reading the customer reviews on Amazon for TNG!  This isn't mentioned anywhere on dvd store sites.  Great news!

Yeh!  I've been holding out for DS9 to come down in price.  This is great news.  Currently watching Voyager.  Up to series 4 and being to lose interest.  DS9 is the best Trek series, TNG is great too lol.

I know what you mean, it's only reall good after season 3 and then it's still patchy.  It's no coincidence that they released TNG first in slimline and followed that with DS9.

Hey Wedge.  Voyager did indeed improve with the arrivel of the Borg and Seven, its just the second half of season 4 just lacked.....something exciting.  There wasn't even a cliff hanger.  Well I stick with Voyager to then end, (plus I'm, borrowing them from a friend and not buying them.  DS9 is worth buying though!).

Have you not see Voyager before?!  One of it's biggest failings was the constant resetting.  The ship didn't even get dirty, scarred or worn!   Also, few big story arcs or decent reappearing baddies (till the borg).

Kenny, what Australian sites are they listed on?

£27.99?!  They can keep it!  For the same price we can get the lovely plastic cases.

I think the DS9 big boxsets look so much better than the slimline versions. But when it comes to Next Generation, I'll be buying the slimline sets. They're much cheaper and they look better.

The TNG Slimline sets were also that price when they first came out, a few months later they were down to 17.99

Where's the cheapest place I can get the fat-fucker-chunky ones from? I do like the idea of cheaper slimline ones but the fat-fucker-chunky ones look so much better.

The 'fat-fucker-chunky' ones have been going on Amazon for £25-30 quid recently, although they've just increased the price   Otherwise, you could try second hand ones, for example on ebay or at www.cex.co.uk.

Well, I've had a look around and the best current price is from www.foxy.co.uk, who sell them at £35.  Amazon have put them back up to around £50  but you can pick them up on Marketplace for £30.

Give it 6 months and these will be going for about £15 on Play. Just like the Next Gen one

Fantastic. I thought the old, big boxsets looked ugly and chunky. And these will look great next to my TNG slim-sets.

Seeing as the slimsets are selling for £13ish and the large ones are selling for £60+....I'm selling my DS9: Season 6 set (currently on Amazon marketplace) so I can get the slimsets....several of them!

Just watcing Season 7 and the grain on the episodes is horrible. Especially on 'The Seige of Ar-558'. As it's mainly set at night on a dark planet, the grain is very visible and horrendous.

You would have thought they'd tidied up the sets more for DVD.
