theres no way i could list a top ten here

from memory it would have to be first Contact, but then I go off on one and come up with The Motion Picture, it was fab the way the reintorduced the old crew and then set them off in a half finished Enterprise (Ah cannie promise anythin capn!!!). Kirk lead them through the unknown "strange new world" as he had done so many times in the past............all i can say is that it holds a special place in my heart. watching Enterprise leaving the Refurb/docking station was worth the admission price alone.

I completely agree.

The scene where Scotty is taking Kirk around the newly refitted Enterprise in the pod while Goldsmith's beautiful 'Enterprise' theme plays is simply beautiful.

Not many films these days take the time for such a leisurely scene showing the beauty of the models and the recognition of an old captain coming back to his first love.

You can't love Star Trek and not be moved by this scene.

This thread needs more pictures!

Generations whilst not the best film does have some great moments - namely the crash of the Enterprise D's saucer although for it to be destroyed by a single Bird of Prey is rather insulting.

Love the music in the film though. Especially played during Kirk's heroic moments as he saves the Enterprise B during its maiden voyage.

Call me optimistic, but I honestly feel with the rumours afloat at the moment on XI, I think it will be the best.

Hopefully, as long as they remember why Trek is so great.

Yes, it really isn't very good so it's not a good indication of the greatness of the Trek films (well so of them).

Watch 'Wrath Of Khan' and if you like then 'Search For Spock'

Then 'Undiscovered Country' for a great Cold War metaphor.

And 'First Contact' for a good old action adventure

IMO, First Contact, Wrath of Kahn, Undiscovered County and Voyage Home ("We are looking for the nuclear wessels.") are the best of the series.

First Contact is my personal favourite, but I can't be bothered to rank them all in order of preference.

I've never seen Wrath of Khan so mine is probably between

the undiscovered country of first contact

the borg are just one of the best villains of the 90s - my BORG FAN COLLECTIVE boxset never gets tired

and my daddy made me watch the UC years ago and that is probably what turned me into a trekkie lol

I haven't seen 'em all

but I liked the one where Kirk/Spock go to Earth to save the whales (as ridiculous as it sounds it was a good movie)

Picard taking on the Borg in FirstContact was pretty good

I cant believe this isnt unanimous.

It has to be

1. The Wrath of Khan

Its just ace

2. First contact

Its ace too, but to a slightly lesser degree.

Not a big Trekker, but I do like the series and love some films. These are the ones I've seen.
My favourites are The Warth of Khan and First Contact. Also Insurrection isn't as bad as imagined and I enjoyed Nemesis(I'm alone in this, but it was ok). Generations and Voyage Home(its the plot, never really convinced me) were decent enough. The Motion Picture is the only one I disliked. The others I still haven't seen.

With the new film being pushed back till May 2009, looks like we're going to have to wait a while for the Enterprise to boldly go where no man has gone before. Again.

"And you, you're all astronauts on somekind of...star trek?"

I'll be boring too and go for Khan, then First Contact.  Saying that I find them all watchable.  I even re-watched V and it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered.

First Contact starts of interesting but turns into a standard Trek episode with better effects (and a fantastic score/theme).

Wrath of Khan feels like a cinematic epic from start to finish.

And who can forget an ending like this.

BTW, there's a great Family Guy paraody of this with Stewie as Kirk.
