 I enjoy My Name is Earl but knowing that most of the people who make show follow Scientology, it can't help but leave a bitter taste.

But like I said, I enjoy the show so I'll keep watching.

 Well, season 2 didn't get off to a great start.  There were some very funny things in there, but it all felt a bit mish-mash and very much a case of everyone- writers and actors settling back into the show.

 Randy and the "helium" balloon was hilarious, as was Earl's impression of a Brit

Not the best of episodes, but I'll certainly be watching all of series 2.

I find it hard to believe Jason Lee or Ethan Suplee are Scientologists!

 Well I thought the episode was occasionally funny for its one liners, but thats about it. I began to lose interest near the end of season 1. I think due to the main premise of the show (Earl and his list), the show just lacks a fresh feel each episode. This means that although I like the one liners, the story in the episode becomes of less interest and, like last nights, is actually quite boring.

Sorry - but I think I'll be giving up on My Name is Earl from now on. Its a shame, cos I absolutely LOVED this show when it first started.

I think the americans can be guilty of overdoing their shows sometimes, and this seems like a prime example. It would work well as 10 episodes a season, but over 20 is just overkill.

i didnt really like the 1st episode of series2, but thought the 2nd episode was funny. hope the rest of the series is as good as the first.

Ok - well I have the next 2 on series link taped. If I find the time and motivation I'll give them a look and see if things have freshened up. I hope they have, but I still can't see it holding me as a viewer.

 I've watched the last couple of episodes & feel it has lost its edge a bit. & yes it does feel far more preachy & issue led than the 1st series. The morality was always there (as it is in all US sitcoms) but was less in your face last time around.
Plus the fact that it might be little more than a scientology recruitment drive has put me off a bit.

 Hmm...Well, I've watched the entire season, and I don't think it's really itself (and therefore really good) again until episode 5, although if I remember correctly, next week's has some good moments too.  But I wasn't really sold on the season till episode 8 or so.  From there on out it's actually pretty fantastic.

Sorry but what has someone's religious beliefs got to do with how funny this show is? I could understand if they were blatantly recruiting Scientologists or pushing Hubbard's dianetic philosophy but they aren't.

The general message behind MNIE is 'Do good things and good things happen to you' seems a pretty universal belief rather than anything sinister.

If you want to have a pop at Jason Lee, then have a pop at him because he is starring in Alvin and the fucking chipmunks, not because he is part of some nutbar religious group.

And no i'm not a Scientologist, I just respect people's personal choices, and if you don't then that makes you someone far worse than a Scientologist....that makes you a poopy head.

Hooray! I loved Joy last night telling the neighbours that she's going to stop taking the happy pills and in 3 days come round and kick their arses. Fantastic stuff.
The tests Earl had to do to marry Catalina were hilarious, even more funny when Randy was cartwheeling through them (and smacking himself with the rakes)
I'm loving this series

Very funny. However, when he was missing Earl and was talking to himself in bed, my missus was nearly crying. Randy is perhaps one of my favourite ever comedy characters, he's played brilliantly IMO.

 That scene was superb, one of the best moments in the show. I agree with you about Randy as well, he's such an excellent character. I loved it a few weeks ago when he was drugged and he saw all the other characters as plasticine figures

brilliant episode, loved the bit were when confronted by the police officer he shook his box of 'bricks' and the garage door behind him opened.

 I've just seen last weeks episode, the one with the buried spoons and all 4 characters getting a turn at narrating. What a great show that was. Nice to see a a slight change in format and very, very funny.

Earl has a fantastic line - "Fancy spoons. All cereal, no milk" -but Randy had the best moment - "I knew Earl was lying, I was pretty sure there was air in here too"
