Mazeworld is great for the art alone.

Yeah, Ranson's artwork is superb. The story wasn't as good as I hoped but the artwork made up for it. As for me;

Finally! After searching high and wide for a copy I managed to obtain one thanks to the good people at Liscard Book Exchange, Merseyside.

This is quite possibly Corben's masterpiece. The artwork is......extraordinary. Really chuffed indeed! :-)

More Hellboy yay! These were bought for an absolute bargain from eBay...compared to the price on Amazon I probably saved around 20! God I love eBay....

Look what finally arrived!

My first ever issues of 2000AD.

They are: Progs 1362-1370, 1526 (30th Anniversary Special), Prog 2013, Extreme Edition 22 (another 30th Anniversary Special) and Megazine #340, which was the latest issue when I ordered it but not now.

If I counted correctly there should be at least six complete stories in that run of progs. I ordered the other ones because they looked special and the Megazine for the movie sequel. Looking forward to jumping in.

Hooray! They look amazing! The 2013 special is really cool (I had my letter printed in that by the way!). And the Meg - great great fun! Let us know how your reading fares in the other thread!

This week's prog was great as well. The ending of the Dredd story was wonderfully unpredictable (even if it could have done with a few more panels about what happened with the slaves), Aquila was great once again - the way it seems to introduce new concepts every week without feeling like exposition overload is really impressive considering the constraints of the five/six-page format - and I actually kind of enjoyed Flesh this week (relatively). The whole 'female characters basically serving as props for moving the plot forward rather than being actual people' thing is beginning to look like a trend based on my minimal experience, but the rest of it worked as a pretty self-contained sci-fi concept piece with a great payoff in the final panel of the flashback. Brass Sun and Damnation Station were both good too, though not as good as last week.

Also - another brilliant cover!

Yesterday I bought Tenjo Tenge (2 in 1 editions) 1 & 2-9.

Managed to barter a deal with a vendor at Comic-Con and nabbed the lot for 6 each which is better than online prices so I was well chuffed.

Might be off-topic somewhat but did anyone else go to the Con in London this weekend? It was my first event of this type and I have to admit in most ways it was exactly what I expected but in others it was so different. I really didn't think people in the UK would dress up to that extent.

Sanchia, what are your thoughts on 6GG? I've been really enjoying it.

Latest comics I picked up were Sex Criminals 1&2, possibly my comic of the year. Pretty Deadly 1, which was gorgeous, and the Milligan/McArthy collection, which is astonishing.

I'm quite enjoying it. It is nice to see someone do something a little bit different and it is quite a well defined world.

It's certainly not what I was expecting, much more about the nature of stories and how we interact (or don't interact) with them. As opposed to just being about an intelligent space-gorilla shooting cowboys. Lots of fun. Met Spurrier at a con recently and he was a really nice guy.

I imagine everyone'll be picking up Sandman this week,

Got some more Megs:

I prefer the longer form Meg to the Progs so my plan is to collect the Megs starting at 275, which began the inclusion of the graphic novel. This will help fill in a large gap of 2000AD content.

My current stash should last me through the New Year by which time hopefully 2000AD will have a sale and I can pick up a large bulk of the Megs.

The Meg is sometimes seen as the inferior sibling to the Prog, but I feel that is a tad unfair. For starters, I absolutely love the Meg which explains why I've got boxes full 'em, whereas with the prog you can find tpb's readily available for your favourite strips, but the Meg for me is more enjoyable because of the added contents. I love the interviews with key 2000ad writers/ artists and a whole host of other stuff not least the floppies. There's some real gems which I've had the pleasure of reading.

At the moment I have Meg Vol. 2 & 3 , (the full run on 2 and half of 3), and the recent stuff from Meg 295 - 341. I'm also on the lookout for #275 - 294. The floppies being a huge reason behind it.

Got quite the haul from my family this xmas. I shared my Comic Book/Manga wishlists with them and agreed that I promised not to purchase anything from the lists for the month of December. It worked out really well and I ended up with the best bunch of presents i've had in the last decade.

People would much rather get a present that someone actually wants for 6-7 than throw a tenner in a card or get something generic like socks/chocolates/booze. I'll definitely be doing the same next year.

Recommended.
