I really enjoyed Mind The Gap to begin with but it became an incomprehensible mess by about 6 or 7 issues in so I dropped it. To be honest it probably reads better in trade format than it did as a monthly but I doubt I'll be picking any of them up. There are better comics out there worthy of my ever dwindling free time.

What an amazing tome!

Pics aren't mine by the way, they're from amazon.

Woohoo! I managed to nab this copy of Daytripper from eBay for a bargain £2.80 (with £3.00 p&p). I am so chuffed because just before bidding ended, a bidding war had started between myself and another keen customer, but I emerged the victor lol! It's a title i've been dying to read for ages now, first brought to my attention via my mate furry (cheers dude!). So can't wait to get started.

Yeah it does look pretty sweet - added to my Amazon Wishlist. Is it based on the Movie or is the Movie based on the Manga?

Let us know your thoughts?! Older Manga can sometimes be better left as a potential good read rather than a bad read in reality (Looking at you Devilman!) .... but can sometimes stand the test of time. (Akira, Berserk, Domu)

The movie is based on this comic series by Miyazaki san! I saw a few volumes at Foyles Bookstore a month back, they look so beautiful. They read from back to front like most Japanese manga, also the individual trades are reasonably priced, 5.99 or 6.99 for each (way cheaper on Amazon).

I got it for £28 on amazon and it's still that price. I'd say it's well worth it. Two hardback books both over 500 pages each. The size is also similar to a normal TPB instead of the usual pocketbook size for manga. Smells nice too.

From what I understand the movie does leave a lot out from the book, so I'm looking forward to seeing the full story.

I think that's a reasonable price for two hardback books collecting an entire series. And it looks bloody gorgeous too. I just might add it to my shopping list for next month! Cheers.

Top Ten was so awesome, Sanchia. I just fucking loved it. Alan Moore at his blistering best, it just confirmed my view of Moore being a bloody genius, a mad one perhaps, but a genius nonetheless! The way he weaves the plot, the characterisation, the breath taking scope and detail via Gene Ha's magnificent artwork - it's a series I fell in love with immediately and couldn't stop thinking about for days! Honestly, anyone who hasn't read Top Ten sould do so, I think there's an Absolute Top Ten out right now collecting all the material, spin off and prequel included (although a tad pricey).

Defoe: Queen of the Zombies by Pat Mills & Leigh Gallagher

bought this title for a bargain (£5.00 including P&P), off a fellow forum member at 2000AD online! I must say I am very chuffed indeed because not only is it in superb condition, but itís a title Iíve been meaning to read ever since I finished the first volume (Defoe: 1666). Also the new series has started in 2000ad so Iíll be up to date with all that has gone on before. Not to mention the great Leigh Gallagher himself recommended it to me on his blog! So very much looking forward to getting started on this then!

Wasn't sure where to put this, and didn't want to start a new thread... I'm currently trying to raise funds to write and illustrate my own graphic novel 'The Butterfly Collector' - "The dark, powerful story of a boy trying to save the souls of lost children from the hands of an evil force; the Butterfly Collector." A little concept art:

If anyone is interested in the project or knows someone that might be, you can check out all the information here:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2025085126/the-butterfly-collector-a-graphic-novel

Thanks for letting me whore myself a little everyone!

Last comic I read was from the NEW-GEN series by the way - pretty light-hearted family friendly book.

This week's Hawkeye (Hawk Guy) is , as always, brilliant. Considering the lack of (coherent) dialogue it's a masterclass in sequential art storytelling. It's crazy how consistently good it is, in my opinion there hasn't been an issue yet that isn't fantastic. Fraction, Aja and Hollingsworth should do more stuff together because Hawkeye is absolute gold.

Daredevil kicked arse this week as well. It'll be interesting to see where Waid takes the story now.

Anyway, my own purchases.

My purchasing has almost ground to a halt recently as I've quite literally run out of room. With any luck I'll be moving house in a few weeks and I've already earmarked a spot in the attic room of the new house to keep my collection.

Also I threw a few pounds towards Quints Kickstarter. Good luck on that.

That looks like a really handsome collection. And it should be considering folks'll have to fork out a £100 to have it in their collection!

£106 after postage

Now all i want is more Alan Moore, Gene Ha, Top Ten comics (not the dodgy continuation they tried which sunk without a trace after a couple of issues.

Same here, I would love to see Moore do er, more Top Ten, rather than say, LOEG. There's a wealth of stories he could tell, even just a continuation of the original series. A second season would be a delight!

I have decided to give Top Ten: Beyond the Furthest Precinct a try. I remember disliking it first time around but have found a copy on amazon for £2.80 so even if it is rubbish not a great loss.

Let me know how your second attempt fares, if it sounds good then I might order a copy for myself too!

Regarding Zenith, was all the series in black and white, or did Yeowell also do some colour ones too? I've never read Zenith, having come on board 2000ad later in life. But nearly everyone who has, has said it's excellent. Not a big fan of Morrison myself if I'm honest, although Yeowell is one of my favourite artists around. He received a lot of negative vuews from fans for his work on The Red Seas, but I thought it was marvellous!

The first three waves were in black and white but if memory serves (and I haven't read it since it appeared in 2000AD which was a while ago) the last wave was in colour which in my opinion is a bit of a shame as the black and white ones were so much better.

I tend to believe Red Sea became a bit minimalistic as the series went on ( a lot of the backgrounds faded away or were sketchily drawn) but started very well in the art stakes.
