I never read it actually, as I kind of felt like Bone lost its way towards the last few collections before pulling it back at the end (mind you, this was a number of years ago so it's equally possible that I was some sort of braindead adolescent at the time and this viewpoint is invalid). Not sure why I never checked out RASL though, it looks like it's up my street (it's possibly down to missing it when it started. or an aversion of publication delays.)

Bone is brilliant, just so enjoyable. One of my favourite comics....

And reading it it isn't hard to see why! Its so charming, not to mentoon really funny aswell. The Rat Creatures are hilarious. And Jeff Smith's artwork is simply superb. I've read the first few chapters equalling about 60 pages, so another 1240 plus pages to go...

Yeah it has a little bit of everything, it just grows and grows. I love it so that I'm looking for somewhere that sells single issues so I can frame it. I agree that it works best with black and white, lets you pick and chose what you want everything to look like. Typing this just makes me want to read it through again....

Over the last few months, I have decided to start a small comic collection......

Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1 + 2 (Issues 1 - 96)
Batman - The entire Knightfall Saga
Saga Volume 1
DMZ Volume 1 - 5
American Vampire 1 + 2
Justice
Kingdom Come
Watchmen
V For Vendetta

Picked up some old TPB's from a local Forbidden Planet Sale that was Half Price on the already reduced prices and then Buy One Get One Free on top of that, so I figured a few blind buys were worth a risk.

Cowboys and Aliens
Superman - Brainiac
Superman - Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
Superman - Kryptonite
Superman - Mon-El: Man Of Valor
Superman - Camelot Falls
Trinity Volume 3
DC Showcase - House of Mystery volume 2
DC Showcase - House of Secrets Volume 2
Shadowhawk Chronicles - Volume 1
JLA Volume 1, 13 (Rules of Engagement), 17 (Syndicate Rules)

Plus been collecting all of Marvel's Ultimate Graphic Novel collection.

Just had this delivered, really looking forward to reading it as soon as i finish BONE.

I was flicking through the book and i have to commend Dark Horse for a really handsome presentation. Its quite big than your normal TPB much like Beasts of Burden, which helps to enhance the terrific artwork.

However i was quite disappointed with one thing, the superb shot of Blacksad walking through the street of New York which Sanchia kindly posted in the other threas IS NOT THERE! Except for a two page spread inbetween chapters WITHOUT colour. I purchased the book partly on that evidence and frankly feel a little let down.

Wait until you get into the stories. That is the true joy of that comic book, the art is the cherry on top of that cake.

Regardless of the slight disappointment cited above, i'm stilled thrilled to finally own this book. Frankly my comic book library was feeling naked without it! I'm looking forward to getting started, heard so much praise for it not least on here. Thanks Sanchia for re-igniting my interest in it, hence the purchase.

2.50 for the set including p+p

I love getting things cheaper than what I would have paid 15 years ago! They would have sold for 2 each at my local comic store when I was 12.

A rare thing: An issue of Synder/Capullo's Batman that actually left me underwelmed. I enjoyed it on my first read, but then as I began to think about it and read it again after re-reading the previous issue it became more and more unsatisfying. After an already hefty monologue last issue The Joker talks way too much again this issue. It's not that its badly written dialogue, it's just too much, borderline rambling. Also, how did Bats escape those chattering teeth, wire trap things? One minute hes trapped, then there's a panel of a gaunlet hanging loose then Bats is bare-handed. So this was a trap wear the only possible means of escape was to take off his gloves? Also, after the shock of seeing Nightwing getting caught in a explosion last month, he's suddenly here, alive and well, and no one mentions one word about the explosion. The worst though, is that after the absolute pasting The Court of Owls gave an over-confident Bruce, he seems more arrogant than ever. Did he learn nothing???

It's not a bad issue though. A disappointing Batman is still way better than most other titles. The artwork is great as usual. I loved seeing Joker's strap-on face squish round the side of his head as he got punched. The flashback to an early Joker/Batman confrontation ends with a real stinger and the cliffhanger ending opens up loads of possibilities for next month's.

I've yet to read it; halfway through Mandroid (superb) and prior to that finished Absalom ( awesome). But cant wait to get started; the artwork by D'israeli looks absolutely breathtaking. The book i've purchased has a couple more stories set on the ship but you're right because the main story isn't too long.

I really enjoyed it! Kev Walkers 'Mignola-esque' artwork is bloody brilliant. Really noirish with dark corridors and long shadows. Its a really powerful story, being a father of two kids and a husband i felt quite neasous by the shocking turn of events that Nate Slaughterhouse suffers. It showed MC-1 as a far more dangerous place than all the wars Nate had been in. His transformation into a vigilante was awesome. It just shows how great a writer Wagner is, always coming up with a fresh angle to explore Dredd's world. I absolutely loved it. The sequel however was quite unsatisfactory in my opinion. Nonetheless, Mandroid is a superb read.

EDIT: Tiger Lawyer looks very interesting!

Just went on a bit of a splurge on Amazon - i've wanted these for ages but I haven't snapped them up as I was waiting for the prices to go down which wasn't happening....

Below for 20 - finally up to date, i've read about 50% of this volume before but half will be new material.

Below for 50 - the first volume is still on Forbidden Planet for just 36 (Hardcover) and i've been contemplating getting the second volume in paperback but I just couldn't compromise! I might get the third volume at some point so that I have all three hardcovers. I'm also liking the looks of some of Turners other works such as Fathom.

Chew is quite interesting in that it is light hearted and fund interspersed with some remarkably dark moments.
