Last I got was Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 14

The second paperback collection of Alias by Brian Michael Bendis.  I'm late coming to Alias, but I'm liking it so far.

Alias is good.  it works well with Bendis' slightly wordy style.  The follow up The Pulse doesn't work as well but is still worth a look

The last actual book I bought was a hardback copy of Astro City: Local Heroes.

I've pre-ordered the first 2 Buffy season 8 comics. Haven't actually bought a comic in years (just borrowed a lot of Sandman and Hellblazer) but I suppose my geek-infested roots are finally showing through now!

Think mine was "A Superman For All Seasons", but I've also got my hands on some Marvel Essentials recently as well - Nova, Ghost Rider, Werewolf By Night, that kind of thing.

A different cover to my copy but if that is the Frank Miller one it is a great book.  I consider it the definative Daredevil origin story from back when Miller was at his creative peak.

I today managed to get the hardback version of Leviathan for £5.50.

Ooh, Scarlet Traces is great

I think Edginton and D'Israeli are working on a sequel actually.

They just finished a new story in 2000AD called Stickleback that I really liked. It had a very similar feel to both Leviathan and Scarlet Traces. Perhaps leaning more towards the former.

Stickleback was an exceptionally dark piece of work but looked fantastic and was nicely plotted once it got underway.

Lovely art (along with regulars Buckingham and Jean there's greats like Bolland, Vess and Bolton, and Esao Andrews who I've not come across before but will be on the lookout for from now on) but I think Willingham is beginning to run out of steam, a shame as this has been a really good series.  Worse though is he is becoming increasingly blunt, simplistic and preachy in his politics, which does not make for a good read when he diametrically opposes your own views.  I actually considered quitting the book after reading the latest collection (Wolves) because of this but I'll stick with it for the meantime.  Should sit nicely alongside Maus in any collection.  Anyone read any of his other books?

Palestine is in my to-read pile. I think he has a new one out pretty soon, about Bosnia, if memory serves.

The last Willingham I read was Ironwood which is a comic he wrote and drew a few years ago.  Great artwork and interesting plot but it came as a bit of a shock when I opened the graphic novel and found a female centaur performing a certain act on the lead character.   The friend who lent it to me forgot to inform me that it was for the adult Eros line.

My local comic shop closed up lately, so I didn't buy anything for ages. But I was up in Dublin and bought this:

In a word: Classic.

Nice one.  I was considering the limited edition hardcover a while ago but couldn't excuse the cost. At least I can be happy that I still have the original issues tucked away in a comic box.

So lovely, I treated myself to the Absolute Edition last year. Worth every penny. That reminds me....can now sell my old "normal" edition on Ebay......
