It is, but like Rome it takes a bit of time to get going and dedicated viewing.

Not as good as Rome though.

Yeah the Daily Mail article has some good points about accuracy but you ALWAYS knew it wasn't going to be 100% accurate...and then they go and get petty by going "Oh and he had RED hair."

There are many redundant sex scenes but I still think it's an enjoyable series, inaccuracies and all.

Enjoying this, whilst reading a histroy of the tudors at the same time.

That daily Mail article made me laugh, I could of been sacked looking at that at work the number of semi nude promo shots in it. Typical "shock horror" article accompanied by pictures where every one is starkers, just so thier readers can go back and be "shocked" a few more times. I'm sure there are other publicity shots that are less flesh orientated.

Season 2 will premier at the end of March in the States - the King will return...with facial fuzz!

Peter O'Toole will also star as the Pope.

Trailer is also doing the rounds online - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaK6uzZFOTo

And the show won seven awards at the IFTAs (like Ireland's version of the BAFTAs only crappier)

Anyone watching it still? Just watched the 5th episode of Season 2 and just wanted to say Cardinal Fisher's execution was very well done and suprisingly moving. All the pieces are falling into place for Anne's downfall.

Nice cameo by Michaelangelo.

I can help but think the series may dip now that Jeremy Northam is no longer in it. His portrayal of Thomas More was the best thing in it.

hang on...surely anne's gonna be in it a while longer...they were married over three years! 1000 days remember? As i understand it, the marriage didn't really start to fall apart til at least after the birth of elizabeth...

omg, you're right! I genuinely thought you were making it up! So they're gonna cover three and a bit years worth of stuff in series 2?! That upsets me, because I liked the Anne Boleyn story and thought she'd at leats be around a couple more series!

Besides, wasn't he meant to be relatively old by the time Anne of Cleves came along? I thought the whole point of the Tudors was to focus on Henry's early years (i could be totally wrong here!).

Well I'd just like to say I thought Season 2 was brilliant. The Boleyn's fall from grace was done very well covering all major theories on Anne's fall from grace - her alledged infidelity, the witch accusations, Jane Seymour and those incest rumours.

I think the final shot of the series may indicate we might see Jonathan Rhys Meyers in a fat suit next series.

The Tudors Friday 01 August
9:00pm - 10:00pm
BBC2
1/10

The first series of The Tudors proved to be quite a tidy little hit for BBC2 last year, winning a firm following of devotees who loved its high-camp, glossy, boobs-and-bums view of a roistering period in British history. And now it's back, with Henry VIII (the puckish Jonathan Rhys Meyers) still breathing heavily into his beloved Anne Boleyn's face (what must his breath be like) as he moans, "I have to possess you utterly." For her part Anne, the minx, lies around in her nightie, reading books and looking winsome. The production values are wonderful and the dialogue is a joy: "Catherine, you must stop making my shirts" is my particular favourite, said by Henry to the ill-used wife he is desperate to get rid of, Catherine of Aragon. The cast is packed with top-notch names - including Peter O'Toole as the Pope (ah, that magnificently fruity voice) - and it's glitzy fun that, presumably, isn't meant to be seen as any kind of authentic history lesson. Is it?

Apparently Joss Stone has been cast as Anne of Cleves for the third series. A woman who was famously unsightly in the eyes of Henry so he promptly divorced her. Um....
