Have to, sadly, admit that I agree with Mrs Wibble and Hex! The first few Anita Blake books are outstanding, great horror-comedy, funny and dark and nicely twisted, and Anita's a fantastic, strong female character. And then the sex comes in and the plots go by the wayside. What the hell happened to the storylines?? Danse Macabre is set over 2 days, if that, there's little to no fighting, no real crime-solving - all the things that I started reading Laurell K Hamilton for have been lost. Now, I enjoy trashy vampire porn as much as the next lady ( ), but dammit I miss hard-ass, crime-solving Anita! ....That said, I'm still buying the Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry novels as and when they come out! Although Mistral's Kiss was so trashy I feel there should be a new word invented to describe it... And don't bother with any of her short stories. They're just her Anita novels, condensed into shorter form. What a rip-off. I do want to get the graphic novels, though....
