Any NI folks, put your deets on extrasni.com if you fancy some extras work.

If they considered me, a weedy guy with a pitiful beard, last year, y'all have every chance.

I wish they'd open that up to people who aren't from NI. I'd happily put myself up in a Travelodge if it meant getting some extras work.

It's all online now, no in person auditions, so maybe you could still sign up.

Is it really? Where??

Dragonstone isn't that far away from King's Landing so it wouldn't take that long to get there by boat, especially with good winds.

Yet it took him half a season to get there in the first place...

So, did anyone else spot Dubya's head on a spike at the end of Season 1?  I know I didn't, but I am laughing at the fallout this revelation is causing in the States

http://uk.eonline.com/news/game_of_thrones_shocker_george_w_bushs/323387

Apparently, Beinoff mentioned it in the DVD commentary and it was picked up by the media.  According to HBO, it wasn't a political statement, more the fact that the firm that supplies the body part props threw it in with a bulk order and it wasn't noticed until after filming had finished

Heh, I can just imagine what The Daily Show/Colbert will do with this story.

Having read the first two books and catching up on the series it's interesting how much they change, a lot of stuff plain didn't happen in the books! Renly copping off with Loras (there's been no hint whatsoever that he was even gay), the dragons being kidnapped, the whole Arya/ Lord Tywin bit at Harrenhal (it was actually Roose Bolton in the book), Joffrey torturing the girls Tyrion sent, Jon Snow buggering off with the wilding girl (he actually just let her go) and gave himself up to the wildlings later on - there's probably loads more I've forgotten and I've still got four episodes to watch.

In one way it's a bit annoying to see things veer from what you expect but it actually keeps it fresh for book readers so there's pluses and minuses

You might find this thread interesting Fluke:

http://www.empireonline.com/forum/tm.asp?m=3406989

I've also addressed your post in that thread as to not derail this thread with book talk....

You should be good. There's an agreement to only talk about the books up to the current series aired. The first two books are being discussed, Storm of Swords can't be discussed until the start of the third season of the TV series.

Ahem. http://www.afterelton.com/tv/2011/01/gays-game-of-thrones-series-george-martin

But yeah, as someone who has only read book one and is currently reading book two I'd prefer if book chat was kept to the book TV thread please.

I didn't, no. And I can't believe it. I've left a comment on the E! site expressing my outrage. Mine's comment 142.

I thought it was just a comment on the DVD commentary - 'oh, he looks like' - that was blown way out of proportion as opposed to an actual copy of his head?

So, being the amazing sister that I am I gave my sister 40 so she could go out last night (been hit by the Ulster Wank glitch), while I, slaved away at work. And who does she end up siting next to in Lavery's watching the European Cup final?

If it had been Dinklidge, I might have had to end her.

She also met the woman who plays Yara, but I don't have a picture of that. Apparently she's almost unrecognisable in real life.

Lord Swinglow is looking a little cheeky there. Was there a bit of banter between them?

I actually started reading A Storm of Swords the other day. So far, enjoying it much more than CoK.

And that's all I shall say, for I know this is the wrong thread.

So Mance Rayder has been cast. I'm a big fan of the actor so I'm personally chuffed.

Yep, think that's as great piece of casting. Reading the first part of A Storm of Swords at the minute and enjoying it much more than A Clash of Kings. I notice that a couple ofl plot points from it were adapted slightly and brought forward into Season 2 of the TV show.

Great actor but I can't picture him. Someone on A Forum of ice and fire mentioend Viggo Mortensen as being good for the role, that would be more how I pictured Mance.
