 It also raises the question of how do you pass this information along to people you know are amputees, but know only as acquaintances,  without coming across like you're taking the piss? I know some hairy people too, but for some reason it seems like less of a delicate issue, when in fact it shouldn't be. Should it?

Jebus, I feel like I'm in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm here.

 Well its an awesome project - just let them know that you think it will be really cool.

Also you might want to go anyway - a shaved head might be an interesting look - they will be wanting all sorts of styles.

 Never heard a damn thing about this but I'm well up for it!!! The graph of various TV show budgets is quite interesting, Legend of The Seeker has some decent effects in it so I'm suprised it's so low down. What the hell is John Adams as well??

Picked the first book up yesterday.  I've read the prologue and the first chapter "Bran" so far.  I thought I was beyond reading "fantasy" since my teens but the imagery and characterisation so far have been striking. I know for instance that Jon Snow is someone I'll affiliate myself with forever after. 

Chap in work is in an extra on it.  I don't know him frankly but I've over- heard him say he's got a line it it.  Bastard . 

I'm late to the party but SERIOUSLY looking forward to this now.  It's vernaclar of dire wolves, wildlings, the Others, and Winterfell is intriguing..

Martin's one of the strongest writers in the genre IMO - and Game of Thrones probably the only fantasy I've really taken to since my teens as well. I also think he's written possibly the best vampire book since Stoker as well.

Pity he has the same attitude to deadlines Douglas Adams did

What is it called? Just finished the fourth book after reading them all without a break. Superb stuff, Martin really doesn't pull any punches and some of the twists and turns are wonderful. The SPOILER Frey wedding is a master class in how to build suspense in writing.

I'm really getting into the book now and each of these little glimpses into the show really impress the vividness of the rendering.  The casting looks superb and the world's look real.  I'm very much only a novice at this stage but freezing almost any frame yields a degree of recognisable detail that is very gratifying.  April's shaping up to be a massive month in telly-land.

 The guy from work who is an extra on this came in this morning clean shaven with his hair cut.  I thought this must be a Game of Thrones COUP!!!!!

Everyone coming up to him with a coquesttish congratulation on grooming.   Whereas I took the opportunity to sidle up and ask if the "pick-up's" were done.  Pick-ups being "industry" talk for the final round of filming.

It was really an excuse to enthuse about just HOW MUCH I AM INTO THIS!!!! 

So the chap is an extra on THE WALL.  Yes, he's one of the Night Watch.  I said the most dick-headish thing, I said "God, that must have been freezing!"  (Thinking of the current arctic wind coming down and freezing us all).

He said quite deadpan and deeply unappreciative...

"It was August.  We were roastin. It's fake snow'"

So I threw my coffee in his face and shrilled "Winter Is Coming!" and ran away.


No the coffee thing didn't really happen.

But this is just an excuse to bump this thread because I think it is, and is going to be fucking brilliant.

Just an excuse to chat to some punter who is involved with it.

I must have chatted to some extent to punters because I got Clash Of Kings as my secret Santa!

Yeah, well into this. 

And all I can say is FUCK LANNISTERS!!! LANNISTERS MUST FUCKING DIE!!!!

Except Tyrion, who's quite nice.

But yeah.  FUCK LANNISTERS!!!

Hi!

Glad to see you guys are excited about the show. I've worked as an extra on 3 episodes of season 1 so far (about 8 days altogether) and I have to say it is one of the coolest looking shows going!


(I'm the guy holding the orange banner in this pic!)

I've been closely involved in the show from a filming and a fan POV as I've helped organise several fan meet-ups in Belfast where we got to meet GRRM and several of the cast and crew.

We are all very excited and are counting the days until April when it is premiered. Also I can finally tell people about the many cool things I've seen on set!
