One critic said it was fun but shallow. He is definetly wrong. This film is awesome in every way. I just hope the sequels don't disappoint.

Better than '300' but not THAT great a film.
at a first look its boring and pointless, then after a second watch, it feels better, still not that good though.

The past nine or so years have seen many great films - The Bourne Ultimatum stunned me and I was certain that no better movie like it had been made in the last decade. When I saw Ultimatum, I had not seen Sin City.
However, just a week later, I saw 300, another Frank Miller adaptation, and was impressed by the style and creativeness of the movie, and a few days later I was in Blockbuster and picked up Sin City.
What I saw was one of the most brilliant movies I could possibly imagine, outclassing films such as Pulp Fiction and the like in terms of Cult Brilliance. The Film is so visually pleasing, stylish and even makes sense, something that many of these type of movies fail to do. It was so good that I forgot about the Ultimatum for months, until I saw an advert for the DVD on the telly. Buy it. Don't rent it. This is a truly brilliant movie, and is essential to your film collection.

I wouldn't say this is the BEST film of the 21st century, but it may be the coolest so far. What a fricking cast, though. I could have done without the sex and nudity (something I disapprove of in films), not that my jaw didn't drop occasionally, especially at Alba and Dawson, but the violence - something I definetely don't have a problem with - is glorious, proving once again that Rodriguez is one of the kings of the splatter. This is seriously entertaining filmmaking. Do. Not. Miss. It.

Imagine pulp fiction if it were ultra gory, in black and white and based on a comic book. You're thinking along the lines of Sin City, a brilliant film from Robert Rodriguez. It features great turns from Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and an amazingly creepy Elijah Wood. The three main stories wound together are each as gripping as the last, and while not perfect, its certainly thrilling

Robert Rodriguez just Brought to life the comic book, with some steroids. Without wishing to belittle Robert Rodriguez, but this time he had help from his dear friend Quentin Tarantino and Frank Miller screenplay.
"Sin City" is a comic book by Frank Miller made in 1991, with 6 editions, which tells the story of several characters in this dangerous city at the same time, along with the consequences of their choices and a violent history and romance. To bring this to life course had to seek help from the author himself to develop the story, and ask for help to Tarantino to add a delicious violence without exaggeration.
We have the story based on the first edition of Sin City, "The Hard Goodbye" where we see the story of a cop (Bruce Willis) trying to prove his innocence in a crime of rape against a little girl who did not commit. And who ends up falling in love with her years later, on the other hand we see the story of an ex-cop (Clive Owen) trying to help his mistress against the drunk boyfriend, wich ends up turning into a chase against time and a gang war. On the other side we see a "good mercenary" (Dolph Lundgrenque) who investigates the death of his girlfriend, killed during the night while they made love.
Fantastic stories that intersect throughout the film, with an excellent cast with fun characters and exciting that will hold up from start to finish.
Not without mentioning that is super fainthfull to the comic (well daahh, is the author himself who wroted the movie).
Robert Rodriguez did here a Masterpiece ... with a little help.
