Can't wait.

Have loved Mangold since i first saw Copland and Walk The Line has just enhanced his reputation in my eyes after the drap Kate and Leopold and the ok Identity. Wasn't a fan of Girl Interrupted.

Anyway...Christian Bale and Russell Crowe going head to head trying to out psych each other. I can't wait

Probably going to be the best remake in a long time.

This looks fantastic and has Oscar potential too. I only mention Oscar not as a guide to excellence, but when smaller movies pick up a few golden baldies the box office goes up too, which can only be a good thing.

Come now, you're forgetting American Outlaws with Colin Farrell.........ok i'm joking.

We're still waiting for the Brad Pitt/Jesse James film. How long has that been delayed now?

Almost as long as its title

Yuma looks impressive but couldn't help but think that Bales name is missing a Academy Award Nominee/Winner credit like Crowe's. That needs to change soon.

I'm hoping we'll get it by early 08 at the latest as it looks fantastic. IMDB aint listing a UK release date at the mo but I'd be very surprised if a film with this calibre didn't make the cinema over here.

I can't wait for this. It feels like the first proper western being released in ages. Can anyone think of any more recent than Open Range? It might just be a memory glitch but nothing else is sticking out in my mind...

Argh! We forgot The Three Burials of Melequiades Estrada, but I suppose we can let ourselves off since it's set in the present. Really looking forward to this film

The Proposition (2005) was another really good one...I suppose you could argue that it isn't strictly a western since it's set in Australia, but many of the usual western ingredients are in there; Lawmen, Outlaws, Natives, Bounty Hunters, six shooters, boomtowns etc...

But yeah this looks like it should be good.

It's a surprising choice of film to re-make. I'm sure it will be perfectly good in its own right, but the orginal is a classic and there's nothing really to gain in doing a new version.

In truth, I don't think westerns have ever really gone away. The settings may now be different, but the themes and events have just transferred, so you get westerns in the urban jungle (Heat), period settings (Gladiator) or even in space (Star Wars). Open Range was a cracking tradiotional western, however, and really Costner and Eastwood are the only guys in the last 30 or so years to do justice to such material.

I saw some clips from this at Comic Con, I was very impressed.
Ben Foster and Peter Fonda were an entertaining twosome, bantering and answering questions.

I assumed from the title, this was a heist movie.... edgit.
So, I'm there when it comes out

I really like that poster - but have you seen the new one?! It's here.

It's...it's...it's just wrong! Looks like it's for a completely different film!

Still really looking forward to the film though.

I've been waiting for this one to come out since I heard about them remaking it. I wasn't sure if they could pull off the remake as the original was a classic (Glenn Ford was never better), But after seeing the two trailers I think they might have managed a rare feat, a worthwhile remake.

Amen to that, brother.

The original is one of my very favourite westerns. Certainly top ten, if not top five. As somebody said earlier, it is quite probably Glenn Ford's best performance but, for my money, he is bettered by the ever overlooked Van Heflin all the way; His Dan Evans a slightly more desperate and embittered twist on his Joe Starrett in Shane... Perhaps the greatest western of them all.

That said, the trailer for this update looks mighty fine and, fingers crossed, it should at least do the original justice. Crowe looks like he's really enjoying himself in the showier role of Ben Wade and the enormously talented Bale should be effective as Evans.

I'm looking forward to it.
