He's got quite a few books out, do you mean this one?  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Screen-Burn-Charlie-Brooker/dp/0571227554/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-3503823-6474003?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1193056005&sr=8-1

I've not read any of his books but I'll definately have a look for them.

Indeed - they're reprints from his TV column in The Guardian on Saturdays:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguide/brooker/0,,1280131,00.html

Cheers for the link Mikey.

It wins the "best thing on BBC4" prize

Wrong.

As much as I love Charlie Brooker.  His best episode was his American TV episode, I would have to argue that Flight of The Conchords is currently the best thing on BBC4, nay, the best thing on the TV.

Charlie Brooker is great - he is consistently spot-on with his views and really funny, he just needs to be put on a bit earlier.

does anybody know if there is anywhere that I can watch the new years special "at US Speed"? I managed to miss it last night thanks to my TV showing a repeat of Inspector Fucking Morse for the Umpteenth Time.

I'm digging this thread back up as it was the longer one of the two I found. This show is returning for a new series on November 18th!

Ooh, thanks for the links!

I love Charlie Brooker, and his colum in the g2 section of The Guardian on a Monday is always a highlight. I remember seeing one segment of this show where he lamented the state of modern men in advertising - great stuff!

I likely found this through the Empire forums, in fact probably from this very thread, but it's worth repeating. "Playlist: The entirety of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, in order."

What do you reckon will be receiving the Screen Wipe treatment this series?

Has he done Eggheads before? I'd love to see what he makes of CJ!

Was that stuff from Python for real, that was some crazy shit with the audience.

And did that woman from Newsnight actually say pussy?

That was brilliant. Shame that it is likely less people saw it than complaned to Ofcom.

The audience were part of the gag, thats the reason the sketch was in such poor taste.

And yes, she was quoting Frankie Boyle who was describing something you wouldn't be likely to hear in the Queen's Speech.

Ah, bollocks. I was playing Left 4 Dead and forgot this was on! Tragic.

I'll have to hope xthemusic puts it on YouTube soon.

Great episode, love hearing about some of the stuff they had to do on Dead Set "yeah see... thats way better" Another favorite quote would be his mention off BBCs family friendly Merlin and car bomb friendly Spooks.

Its very real.  Its The Paranormal Channel, which is one of those 'filler' channels you'll find in the pit of your Sky subscription.  I was gonna stay up and watch it but even the 2 mins Charlie showed was enough.

Loved his rant on the whole Ross/Brand fiasco.  Brooker has the best 'straight to the point' way of speaking on TV at the moment.

That thing with Liza Tarbuck at the end looked like the cutest programme ever.  Mice and Hamsters dressed up!  In a plane!

apparently yes.. wikipedia says...

quote:

In June 2008 Paul Ross became one of the first faces to appear on the Paranormal Channel, in a new series called "Paul Ross"s Big Black Book of Horror". The series is billed as 'bedtime stories with a sinister difference' and sees Ross reading sinister ghost stories to camera.

I love Charlie Brooker. So glad he is back, even if I did miss it... but just finished watching it on iplayer... yaaaay
