Things started to get REALLY interesting in Azkaban. Harry inherits a Godfather wanted by the magical world for murder- falsely accused, naturally. He also discovers his best mate's rat is actually a conniving traitor who sold his parents down the river to HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED. Oh, and he got a new broom. Again. Soooo. The Goblet Of Fire builds on this success, Azkaban under the skilful guidance of Cueron set a darker stall for HP- which fits nicely alongside the growing darkness of Rowling's hand. GOF is the first of the series to show a character dying (and then unfortunately being respawned as the god-awful Twilight hero) and it takes the responsibility seriously. Gambon has finally settled into Harris' shoes as the enigmatic and powerful Dumbledore, and Gleeson walks away with the film as Mad Eye Moody, a loony Dark Arts teacher with dark secrets. Other than that it's the relationship with Harry and his classmates that fills the film- Ron's jealousy of his mate's attention, Hermione wanting Ron but being frustrated by a)hormones and b)his inane ladishness. He is 14, after all. Harry is starting to feel the weight of responsibility too. The showdown in the graveyard is excellent, Fiennes sweeping in and having a cracking little duel with Radcliffe- who does a great job of showing real courage; coming out from behind a grave knowing he will die. But thankfully, he doesnt. Hurrah! Overall this is a great film, and confirms that the series is getting stronger. The main three are getting better and better and the support cast- Neville, Seamus, Cho all start to step up as well. A great film.
