Ljunberg mentioned today too for £6m. I'd snap him up!!

If £6m was offered for Freddie Arsenal would bite City's hand off. Before doing the dance of glee, obviously.

I'm hoping the £6m is just typical tabloid-bollocks, it seems too much for a 30 year old injury-prone winger.

Is there some reason Wenger doesn't want him at Arsenal?

£70,000 p/w.

1 Premiership goal in 2 seasons.

Can't string more than 3 games together.

Gets injured by being in the same room as cheese goods.

Still an absolute legend though.

Summing up my beloved City so far this week:

On the cusp of signing Bianchi
Ball signed a new two-year contract
Ljungberg rumours abound from every man and his dog
Signed Slovakian 17 year old Vladimir Weiss

Still more to come? I hope so.

Sounds like a typical City signing then.

City land Fernandes

Manchester City have swooped to sign highly-rated Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes. The 20-year-old has penned a four-year deal at the City of Manchester Stadium after the two clubs agreed a fee worth 9.5million Swiss francs (£3.8million) - which is a record sale for the Swiss league.

Fernandes has attracted interest from Bolton and Newcastle in previous months, but City have moved to seal their second signing in 24 hours following the arrival of Rolando Bianchi from Reggina.

Fernandes, who is Swiss Under-21 captain, will meet up with City's squad for the first time on Sunday. New City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is now firmly looking to stamp his own impression on the squad and more new signigns are expected to arrive over the next six weeks.

Reports in Spain on Saturday suggested that City are amongst the clubs competing for the signatures of Barcelona pair Thiago Motta and Ludovic Giuly.

From the City website:
Geovanni joins City.

City have made their third signing within a week by bringing Brazilian midfielder Geovanni to the Club.
He passed a medical at City’s Carrington training ground today, but is not expected to join the squad on the pre-season tour of Sweden.
The 27-year-old arrives on a free transfer and has signed a one-year contract.
Most recently with Brazilian side Cruzeiro, Geovanni brings a wealth of Champions League experience with him, having played for Barcelona and Benfica, as well as having four international caps under his belt.
His diving header, when he stole in between Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville, helped the Portuguese giants dump Manchester United out of the Champions League at the group stage in December 2005, and in total he scored 17 times in 94 appearances for Benfica.

Quite amusing to hear Barton having a dig at Man City, after all they foced him out as he didn't do anything to warrant being sold

Ah I dont have it in me to hate Joey or call him names and mean them. He's one of the few footballers who talks honestly plus he called Frank a fat bastard.

He's ok by me.

Agreed, he's always looked very good whenever I've seen him.
£4.7m seems pretty cheap too.

Has anybody ordered the new third strip? (The white one with blue stripe.)
I know it's been advertised as limited edition, but when I tried to order one on the club website, they've only got small sizes left!
That's a pretty quick seller, by the looks of it....

Sounds like you might have two Rammy.    Kieron Dyer is expected to sign today as well.

I've got to say I'm quite excited about City this year.

Not sure about Dyer, great talent, just a big time Charlie. I'd be shocked to see him come to City considering his reason for wanting out of Newcastle was due to him wanting to be close to his family in London?

Either way, Dyer needs an attitude readjustment imo, but we'll see what comes of him if he does sign.

Castillo from Olympiakos for £10 million sounds like the next signing. Along with Dyer for £4.5 million, and Claude Dvis for £9 million.

Sven has been quoted as saying in the MEN that he is nowhere done spending yet. Cool!

Castillo is a very very good player, mexican I believe. Haven't seen him play in the Americas Cup but I believe he did alright!

Would like to see Zigic or Peter Crouch at City too. A big man upfront is always a useful option to have.

Are Man City fans not disgusted that their new owner is a human rights violator?

Ah who hasn't opressed a few underlings in their day. I like to think of him as being ambitious.

This would be on accusations of the democratically elected government is it?  Sorry? what?  No its  on the word of the government who forceably removed him from power.  Oh right well he must be guilty then.

C'mon FB.  I'm by no means sticking up for Thailand's military government but it's fairly disingenuous to claim he's not guilty just cause his accusers aren't paragons of virtue.  The evidence is fairly stark against him.

Still, Svennis appears to me making some astute signings with his ill-gotten gains.

You mean the claim that the Billionare fixed a £10 Million bid by his wife for a contract?
Plus the money has been held by the banks the money Svenis is playing with is what the owner made through the mobile phone business. Which is as clean as any other successfull businessmans cash.

To actually answer your post I never said he was innocent I just stated the facts that the hooded man failed to notice.

His money wasn't really the issue I was thinking about to be honest.

I think the Hooded Man had the start of a point, although i'm not merely singling out City. My club Hearts have a dodgy character in charge, Abramovich has asset stripped huge amounts from Russia and there are more and more shady characters getting involved in football. At what point do the fans of a club take a moral stand, is it enough for their team to be winning or is there someone out there who'd be beyond the pail right from the start?

I'm sure some City fans are disappointed he owns the club, but probably not enough if his regime brings cash and success.
