This evening I have leisurely been listening to the score, but could concentrate on it better than in work earlier. I think it's amongst Zimmer's best work, and it's a grower.

I can't really single out any of the individual Batman soundtracks as better than the other, because they all feel so connected.

So there's a definite sense of evolution with these soundtracks, and that's fantastic. The final track - 'Rise' - Is an evolution of the final track from The Dark Knight soundtrack (itself called 'The Dark Knight') and may very well be one of my favourite pieces of film music of all time. It just sums up everything about Bruce's journey, his sacrifice and extraordinary courage as Batman. Can't really explain my emotional reponse to it very well, but it's just mind-blowing.

A great soundtrack can have a profound effect on me, so instead of trying to convey my feelings on this I'm just going to listen to it again, because it's stunning. The end, goodnight.

Whilst I am not going to read the actual reviews, apparently their have been early preview screenings in the States and the film has apparently left people speechless. One screening got a standing ovation and some early reviews are talking about Bale being nominated for an Oscar for his performance…!!

Wow- of course its all too early yet, but fantastic to hear this! I've been banking on this being the film of the summer/year/decade for some time now and I have predicted the way films would turn out this summer perfectly so far:

-Prometheus- couldn't live up to hype

-Spiderman - too soon, wrong director

-John Carter- Would flop like hell, but not actually be bad.

-Avengers - Tons of fun, despite huge cast etc.

and TDKR- Completes the greatest trilogy? (perhaps alongside Toy Story and Bourne).

Yeah early reviews have been pretty dman positive. I do have a few worries about the film but I'm sure they'll be soothed when I watch the thing finally.

My main worry is Bane ending up as just the lackey of a certain rumoured female villain. I kinda feel it would diminish whatever carnage bane causes if there's a 'twist' of someone pulling the strings.

Also, with how Jim Gordon's family were treated at the end of TDK is anyone thinking

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Maybe Jim's family have left him? Left Gotham even?

Possible BFI IMAX ticket swap? - 11/7/2012 3:04:26 PM

Conundrum!

I've got two tickets for the BFI Imax, Friday 20 July 2012 at 21:35, centre of row F so almost right in the middle (good spot I think, know others like the back though). As I went to the same opening day showing for TDK at the BFI and know how good the atmosphere with that crowd is (guaranteed respectful audience, Avengers was RUINED for me – have never been more annoyed and I’m not even a Marvel fan...) I was up at 3:30am on the night they went on sale fighting BFIs website to get them. Was hell the next day but as I’m pretty sure I’ll never feel the need to do that for a film again knew it’d be worth it.

Here’s the hard part: I’m also taking part in rehearsals for a sporting ceremony coming up soon...and there’s a schedule clash. I’m still waiting for confirmed info on rehearsal times but honestly does sound like I might not be able to make the showing. Will be absolutely gutted if I can’t.

Question: When I get more times info early next week if it does turn out that I really can’t make the showing does anyone want to swap tickets so they can go on the Friday night? It’d have to be for 2 x Sunday afternoon / evening BFI IMAX tickets, seats in the middle section, anywhere from about row F to the back would be fine.

NB – I’m not looking to sell the tickets, already had a ton of offers to buy them.

PM me if your interested! Cheers!

Well I suppose I'm officially in to the final stages of hype for TDKR as I watched Batman Begins this evening. It does lose a bit of focus in the finale (it's a little bit choppy), but the scenes of Bruce training and literally becoming Batman, are extraordinary film-making. And the on-screen chemistry between Bale and Caine is fantastic, and that was obviously essential.

I remember sitting in awe in the cinema the first time I watched Batman Begins thinking that I couldn't actually care how long it took him to become Batman in the film - The training sequences with Ra's are so involving, and the anticipation of him finally putting on the suit combine to make a deeply rewarding film experience.

- Gordon: "I never thanked you..." - Batman: "And you'll never have to"

I look forward to watching The Dark Knight next week some time...

Has anyone been reading the special Batman articles on the front page of this website? I read the Hans Zimmer article earlier and particularly liked this quote from him...

These films are special to us. I’m a terrible procrastinator, and I said to Chris the other day that one of the reasons I’m procrastinating so much on TDKR is that I don’t want it to end! This one especially… I’m not giving anything away, but I was saying to him that all my life I wanted to be a film composer, and all my life I’d wanted to do a movie like this one, but nobody had written it. I didn’t know it would ever exist. And he wrote it. And what am I going to do now?! It’s so ironic that I had to be talked into doing the first one.

There's a BB/TDK double bill at my local on Tuesday so I'm considering going to that with Ninj. Then TDKR three days later!

There’s a lot of talk about this screening that ended with a standing ovation and lots of Oscar talk etc. But unless I’m mistaken, wasn’t that a screening for bloggers? Hyperbole is their bread and butter. While I’m sure this will be a great conclusion, I’m keeping expectations in check until more credible folks weigh in

I believe it was a critics screening, not specifically bloggers. For all we know Empire could have been there but can't say anything yet.

There's a rumour going around on the internet that Christopher Nolan is going to use a different composer for his next film. Apparently he's going Hans-free.

Christopher Nolan's next film is to be a prequel of Ridley Scott's GLADIATOR, about the teenage years of Maximus Decimus Meridias. It's to be called: I,MAX

(I'll stop now!).

Minor Spoilers - The eight year gap

I always thought in this eight year period Bruce Wayne continued his career as Batman, taking down mobsters and retiring once the police capable of taking over policing. In that time frame he could of faced major villains like the Riddler or a realistic killer croc. I still think this is possible however it does look like Bruce may of retired as Batman on the same night Harvey Dent's death.
In a way this doesn't feel like a realistic approach of Batman from the comics but instead Nolan's security attempts against future spin offs to his trilogy. In a way I understand why especially what the Terminator series is going through, however it is a shame Batman Begins being the most true adaptation of the comics and the last film left a gaping hole in storywise.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain he will have retired that fateful night. So when you think about it he was only the Batman for a year or two at the most ha.

I think the 8 year gap is there for this reason: It was a pivotal night for Gotham (and for Bruce), when Dent died. By having Bruce retire Batman for 8 years (directly after that night) cements just how pivotal it was, and it makes it all the more significant and relevant in TDKR. It had a long-lasting effect, and continues to shape Gotham.

The truth will out in TDKR, about Dent/Batman - In a few trailers/TV spots the police are chasing Batman in force, but in that final street-fight they are fighting alongside him. I think JGL's character, Blake, will do some detective work and somehow get the truth out of Gordon/Batman.

Okay, I think we should keep in the spirit of this, mainly good natured and sensible, thread and avoid posting spoilers and extended clips on here for the remaining countdown.

We all know, as a group, we have zero self control so lets help each other out here.

One week to go exactly; Let's make it through it still knowing only a slim idea of the plot. How mega will it be to sit in the Imax or wherever next Friday and be gloriously ignorant to all that's about to unfold!

This is probably the last time I visit this or any other TDKR thread until I see the film as the spoilers are going to start coming thick and fast over the next week.
