Does anyone know if Manchester is full IMAX or this new digital pretend but not really full IMAX IMAX?

These are all the proper IMAX screens in the UK

UK || BFI London
UK || National Media Museum IMAX Bradford
UK || Glasgow Science Centre IMAX Cinema
UK || Odeon Manchester IMAX @ The Printworks

These were the ones in the UK that Nolan/WB allowed the prologue to be shown on... And it was jaw dropping!

I gave up on IMAX. Got through to the seating chart on a few occasions, but it still crashed. Looking at online reviews of imax screenings, I was pretty disappointed to find out that (apparently) you need to sit in a few certain seats in the middle, of the back end of the auditorium to fully appreciate the full spectacle. Have booked tickets to see to see at a cineworld first (1p.m. 20/7), to see it in most of its glory, and will then see it in all its glory when there should be more decent seats available. Simply do not see the point in paying for IMAX tickets and not enjoying the full spectacle, am still gonna love seeing this on the first day though (just not as much as I previously thought/hoped)

On another note, I have never booked time off of work to watch a "movie" before, and I can't help but feel this is just wrong and a very unproductive way to spend a days holiday. Although I do know that this movie will ROCK, and that makes me feel much, much better

Roll on 20th July!!!!!!

Think I'm on my own on this but i actually prefer to be closer to the middle, 6 or seven rows back, the screen fills your entire range of vision that way which makes it really absorbing. You do get a bit of a stiff neck but if the films good enough you wont even notice. Have sat further towards the back but thought being aware of the top of the screen took something away slightly, still amazing though.

Cheers Pete, my best option was always going to be Manchester but when I saw it was "Odeon" I wasn't sure if it was full IMAX or not. Flying to Greece from Manchester on the 25th July so I might try and squeeze it in before we fly

I'm all booked for th 6:20pm showing at Bradford on the 20th. Can't wait! Going to have to get there early this time though because when we went to see Avatar there was a huge queue and we ended up sat right at the front. That is not a comfortable experience.

No worries.

Yeah, get in there as soon as possible... the spoilers will be flying about like no one’s business before long! And from reading the Empire interviews this month, it was the final scene alone that convinced Nolan to go back and direct another. Should be a cracker!

In the recent footage shown on MTV there's a shot where Batman is in front of or behind a gate, it doesn't look like Bale, could it be Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

In the last full trailer there is a shot where I am sure it is Levitt in the suit

SPOILERS…!

The theories that JGL takes over the mantle of Batman in this film are nonsense – It ain’t going to happen. The shot of Batman in front of the gate/mesh is just before he confronts Bane (Batman turns around and sees Bane, in the trailer). It is in this scene that Batman gets badly beaten, and then imprisoned. It’s easy to tie together this part of the film from what we’ve seen so far.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I think we've seen a good gauge of Nolan's taste with regards to the comics so far. He's played things very conservative and in most cases taken very subdued influences from the source material. I do not believe we will see Bruce Wayne hand over the mantel of Batman to somebody else. Or Robin.

Just watched the prologue again. Bane's voice is incredible in it and I understand it perfectly. I hate that people complained and I can only hope the changes aren't like those we've seen in the trailers urgh. It was perfect the first time!

OK, so I wasnt going to prebook to see this in IMAX or anything else. As me and the missus have the Unlimited cardds for Cineworld we were just going to go along to a regular screening on opening weekend and then I would catch it later in IMAX, however, my film nerd genes kicked in and I started to look at going up to the Bradford IMAX for an early showing on the Saturday of opening weekend. So, I had a look at tickets online and it appears it can still be booked, but doesnt give any indication of choosing seats, I tried to call em but they havent answered all day. So, my question is, does the Bradford IMAX give allocated seating, or is it a case of get in early for best seats? Also, are tickets really just a tenner? Thats cheaper than Cineworlds fake IMAX isnt it?!

Also, speaking of Cineworld IMAX, I looked on their site for showings at Sheffield, and they dont have it listed as available for advance bookings... which seems like madness!

I saw the prologue at the BFI IMAX and honestly, you could only decipher about half of what he said. It’s probably because the sound system in there is just so loud and powerful but for that screen, it was a serious issue. Just on my experience (and the fact I’m seeing it there) it has to be tweaked to some degree. Maybe only in the scenes with extensive background noise perhaps, like that of the planes but it would be terrible to not understand him during large parts of the film.

That is sad.
Ive been to 3 IMAX showings in the past month and two at my local EMPIRE cinema and to tell you the truth IMAX is getting slightly overhyped.
Yes its a clearer definition and the sound is remarkable but the way some people go on about it you'd expect much more.
Like I've said before just seeing the film is good enough, rether thats in IMAX,a local cinema,an Art House or on DVD,eventually.

If some people want to pay mental amounts due to them missing out on certain bookings then thats there (rightly) choice, but for people feeling disheartened on missing out, trust me alot of cinemas nowadays are alot more developed than some are giving them credit for.

IMAX isnt the "be all and end all " of seeing great films.

I watched a version somebody recorded from a cam and I understood it fine!

I love that teutonic/metallic rasp and I really hope the tweaking doesn't take anything away from it. Although 'clearer', I thought it sounded very ADR in the subsequent trailers, so I am slightly worried Nolan has given into pressure on that front. Then again he was on a plane in the prologue!

Oh yeah, the bits where we could understand him sounded superb! A tad vocoded and metallic. You’re right, the little bit of dialogue in the trailer lacked that. If they are addressing it, they should definitely retain those elements if possible. Made me think of a quality Bond villain when he first spoke.

I would have needed a subtitled screening to understand what Bane was saying, even the first couple of trailers I had to re-watch certain parts a few times. I'm glad they've addressed it.

I read the transcript of Bane's dialogue before seeing the prequel and still couldn't understand him!

On a side note the BFI website is still "busy". I have to say that's fairly shambolic.

I've got my tickets so I'm happy but I didn't have any problems when booking for The Dark Knight so that makes we wonder will this be even an even bigger box office hit?

I've been to the Bradford IMAX a few times and booked online and I've never been able to pick seats. I would suggest getting there pretty early (personally, I'm going to call to see what time they start letting people in) because the last couple of times I went there were huge queues and we ended up sat on the front.

And yes, the tickets are cheaper than Cineworld's fake IMAX.

It's alright, better than all the other screens in there but If you want to see this film as it was intended to be seen by Nolan then take a trip to the Manchester printworks imax. I live ten minutes away from the Liverpool one Odeon but I'm making the trip to Manchester opening day for this as their screen is impressive to say the least as it's a real imax afterall

NOT SURE IF SPOILERS OR NOT...SO MERE SPECULATION ALERT!!!!!

I suspect not; but then I think JGL gets - what my teenager brothers would say - all kinds of fucked up. Genuinely believe that he will take on the Batman mantel while Bruce is imprisoned and then he will get killed in front of him (see the short when Bale is in prison garments being held down screaming 'no' at the camera in one of the trailers) and thats what inspires him to get back in the cowl...not saying we will see JGL in the full suit; but the people impersonating Batman was something that was touched on in TDK - and I think that might be something they explore further here!?

I cant see it personally, though obviously i'll hold my hands up if proven wrong.

Personally I feel TDKR will be a simple structured film interms of plot.

Edited earlier post for spoilers.

That is interesting, the idea of him being a copycat would make more sense. I can't get with the idea of him being in the actual suit and being chosen to take over by Bruce, he would have to be as close to Bruce as Alfred, I don't think this would work over the course of one film, or be accepted if they were to use the gap in time to convey it

Said similar things a while ago, though I invisitexted my thoughts on how it might go down. Could be a VERY big spoiler were people to stumble across even what is only speculation.

Right, I've tried editing both my earlier posts as best I can(on Iphone so not easy) fcked up on the last one but at least it's all hidden for my part and apologies for anyone who read it with regards that aspect. Kind of pissed off with myself for reading the last post, I didn't think anyone was giving that any credence so just wrote it off as wild speculation at first. I still think it is mind.

Oh definitely. As they keep saying, there's a clear plan to his madness.

I just love the way Hardy delivers than line, 'Dr Pavel refused our offer in favour of yours... we had to find out what he told you about us.' And then just blankly stares at Dr. Pavel whilst breathing heavily through his regulator thingy. I really hope they haven't altered that as I didn't pick up the heavy breathing in the trailers. I honestly think they had it perfect the first time!
