I'ts different to the first one, but half way through it almost runs out of steam.

Maybe thats besides the point and this is another chunk of eighties nostalgia that Im outside of but try explaining that to anyone who cannot relate to such things. Back to the Future II is as Empire states solidly entertaining and picks up more as it goes along but its flaws are noticable. Its a shame that a smarter director would make links to the sequel in the first film 'prisoner of askaban' style for Marty's return to the fifties. Its close resemblance to the first film in structure makes you wish that after possessing a time machine they might go somewhere new. The weakest Back to the Future film for sure.
