In my opinion, this is without a shadow of a doubt the best one of the three, the third installment being the weakest. This exercise in superior film-making is wondrous in many ways, but mainly I adore and appreciate this film because it achieves something extraordinary by perfectly inter-twining the sequel to the first installment. One of the best films I´ve ever seen,it would feature high on my list of all-time favorites. Not opressive and joyless as some people said on release, but clever and ingenious.

This is my fav of them all, the most creative and funniest. Admittedly, the first one has more repeated viewing but the second has hover boards, and a more involving plot. Plus no film ive seen goes back into a previous film from another angle! genious!

Not many sequels match the originals, but this dam near beats it. Its darker, twisted, genius and so god dam underrated! The only thing it lacks from the original is Crispin Glover as Martys dad. Hoverboards, the Cafe 80s, Biff, Griff and Grampa Biff! Chris LLoyd and Mike J Fox on top form. Awesome.

the hell of a review is that?

the 2nd is the most memorable of the entire trilogy! it is also just as well-made as the first (even though that one is the best because it is self-contained). that being said this is much better than a 3 star film and just as good as part III which goes in another direction altogether.

i think the first film is a 5 star and the other 2 are both 4 star films. a 5 star trilogy though....agree with me?

Tom Tunney, you should take one very long look in a mirror then re-think your carreer. Everybody who i have ever spoken to about back to the future agrees bttf 3 is the weakest by far! giving bttf2 3 stars is just pure madness. The brilliance of the plot, revisiting the first but in a different perspective is just genius. I am actually so angry right now! how can this guy write for empire????????

This film had an almost uneviable job is trying to compete with a flawless first installment. I very much consider this an almost Empire Strikes Back of the triliogy in that it is brave enough to take the material to a slightly darker domain. Its inventive, exciting and (like ESB) is not afraid to end on the mother of all cliffhangers. Its also blends seamlessly into the first installment.

The only duff note is the fact that Glover, for some reason known only to himself, decied to walk!! Prompting heavy (he he) script revisions. An installment worthy of the original...and in no way a thre star film.

With the 500 Best Movies list dredging this review up for all to see, I think Empire needs to make a public apology to Bob Zemekis... ;)

I enjoyed this but for me there wasn't enough stand out moments that the first one had. Still well worth a watch though.

BTTF2 was probably my favourite (Part 3's on TV tonight and I haven't seen it in a while so I might change my mind)!
I love Bob's depiction of the future (though I don't think we'll have that kind of stuff in 6 years time!) and it was really amazing for its time!! It's also very funny when he's trying to get the almanac =)!
1 more star please!!

This is the Empire Strikes back of the series. Dark, brooding, and providing emotional depth to the trilogy and setting the series up to be a classic. BTT3 was the fun cheesy wrap up. Poor Review Mr. TT, that second paragraph was shit.....this needs to be redone....

It may have had 2 plots small put together but, the execution was good.
First half: Trying to change marty's family's future.
Second half: Trying to get the Allmanac from (I HATE MANURE) Biff.

This film seems to improve with age. Every time I watch it, it gets better! One of the best sequels ever.

Back To The Future: Part II
Continues exactly where part 1 left off. From the 3 parts I still think that the story of this one is the best of the lot. Geniously constructed, with cool hints to the other parts and fun jokes but it misses the originality and freshness of the first part.

8,0/10

Bad review, but i understand it. At first, i didn't liked it so much, too.
But as have watched the trilogy 'billions' of times, i thought that the second part is very very good. It is darker in tone like the "Empire strikes back" or "The Temple of Doom", but still very fun, action packed and with great ideas.
And it has the best ending of a sequel i have ever seen!!! Truly amazing and unbelievable!!!

There is a strong argument for this being the best, most inventive blockbuster sequel ever. It's an astonishing, groundbreaking piece of work, and the highlight of the trilogy. Empire, seriously, wipe that egg off your face and do us a retroactive review... no one will mind.

This one has never been my favorite of the lot but I do think that this one has the best screenplay of all three parts.
The stories (or parts of them) of all three installments are wonderfully interwoven into one brilliant story and that has edited very expertly parts of the first film into it.
Excellent!

8,5/10
