Maybe I wouldn't go so far as to call it a gem, but for some reason I love this extremely odd little film. It's a whimsical parody of early 1900s health treatments centering around the Kellogg company in Battle Creek, purveyor of 15 gallon yoghurt enemas. Its a great little look at life, death, sex and finding yourself, paradoxically in such a repressive atmosphere. Worth a chance, if not to everyones taste

Totally agree with Roxanne and Sneakers.

Really cleverly written, excellently performed black comedy. Based around Arliss' (Mitch Rouse) blind date with a girl called Jasmine (Janeane Garofalo) which takes an unexpected twist when it transpires she's determined to commit suicide. Features cameos from Bobcat Goldthwait, Margaret Cho and Stephen Malkmus, it's intimately filmed and has such a powerful ending.

No Good Deed was actually quite good. Better than most heist dramas anyway, with a good performance by Milla Jovovich (you can see a pattern emerging can't you) and it was interesting that the main character stumbles upon the gang by chance and then really takes a backseat to the rest of the film. Some of his escapes were rather clever, especially at the end. Worth checking out if you like Samuel L.Jackson or Jovovich.

An academic obsessed with "roadside attractions" and his tv-star daughter (Hudson) finally discover the world's largest ice cream cone, the centerpiece for an old gold-rush town struggling to stay on the map. They end up staying longer than expected because of an accident that spilled an unknown cola ingredient all over the highway. They spend the next few days with the various residents of the town which include a teenage girl who loves to blow things up and a boy trying to keep alive his fathers dream of building a beachside resort in the middle of the desert.

I loved this movie!!!

Star Wars: A New Hope

It's quite old but i hear it's actually quite good. Didn't get much attention at the time of release, i think this had something to do with it being overshadowed by the hugely popular birth of Samantha Morton.

I know it's horrid. But it's was a good off beat movie from what I can remember, but it's not on DVD in the UK and I can never be bothered to order from USA :(

Kazuya- I haven't seen Blind Fury in years, used to love that film. Silver Bullet too but I watched that again recently

Heart and Souls (1993)

Such a lovely film that unfairly went straight to video in the UK. It only just got released on dvd here last week!

Basically it's about 4 strangers who die in a bus accident in the 50's just as a baby is being born near the scene of the accident. Their spirits stay behind and have to stay very close to the baby. As he grows up, the boy,Thomas, is the only one who sees them but his parents start to think there is something wrong with him so the spirits decide to hide away so the kid can have a normal life. Flash forward to 1993 and now an adult, Thomas is a jaded man who has spent time in therapy. When they discover that they need to finish things that they started in 1959 in order to get into heaven, the spirits decide they need Thomas's help....

Heartwarming and funny with great performances, especially from Downey Jr.

The Legend of 1900. A totally unsung masterpiece by Giuseppe Tornatore. Tim Roth has never been better! Plus you get a brilliant Ennio Morricone score and one of the most touching stories of friendship and humanity ever told. I dare you to watch it without shedding a single tear!

A warm, witty and constantly hilarious road movie from Bob Gale and Zemeckis! Oldman is a treat and even Cyclo- I mean James Marsden holds his own. Track it down, now!

As for a gem... for horror, find In the Mouth of Madness, John Carpenter's best (yes you read right), with Sam Neil, about the power of the imagination. Oh yes, and there are a lot of twisty slimy things in it. And an ending to die for.

Absolution is another brilliant little gem. I think it was with Richard Burton.
Have you seen Il Mostro (The Monster) with Roberto Benigni? Laughed so hard my eyes popped.
And that's pretty serious!

I'm sorry, but whaaaaaaaat? I think it's the worst of the series, one being the best, 3 and New Nightmare close behind. You are entitled to your opinion, I was just a bit shocked by that
