Very watchable film. Another Plummer performance a couple of years later was good too -Eyewitness, by Peter Yates.

Great action, a great sense of humour and a massive sense of style and heart.

Oh, and it also has ninjas vs cowboys in an epic battle.

I watched "The Nameless" (Lo Sin Nombre) the other night, which was the first film directed by Jaume Balagueró who later went on to make [REC] and thought it an excellent Horror/Thriller.

Surprisingly sweet sports comedy with great central performances, especially from Scott.

Not from Jay Baruchel though, who is really, really irritating

But otherwise I agree!

I thought I was the only person in this country who'd seen that one! Cracking little flick.

In that vein, I'd also recommend a few other Disney sports flicks:

I find alcohol or the opportunity of lady part access can greatly increase the enjoyment of a bad film.

Not widely seen due to the fall-out from Mel's doolaliness, Get the Gringo is a funny, exciting action thriller that really highlights the lead's effortless on-screen charisma.

Also, until I saw it last night, I had no idea that it's a prison flick, (don't think it was mentioned in the promotion),

Yeah, think that was what it was called in the UK and other places outside the US. Saw some TV adverts and the like, but nothing about the prison setting, which was weird really.

I guess the studios didn't want any wise-cracks along the lines of 'Well that's exactly where he should be!"

Still, it's an excellent flick that sank without a trace and I've a feeling it might get a re-appraisal at a later date if Gibson ever redeems himself in the eyes of the public and media.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation was the original title, but if memory serves it was changed in the States (and some other territories) so as not to make people think it was a teen comedy. Us Brits are not that stupid, so the original title stayed over here. Personally I actually prefer Get the Gringo over How I Spent My Summer Vacation. Cos How I Spent My Summer Vacation makes it sound like a teen comedy.

Defendor - much more a tale of mental health problems & innocence lost than of superhero-ing (even more so than Super and nothing like Kick-Ass so don't expect that sort of film), this is quite a pleasant little film with Woody Harreslon playing a man-child that likes to dress up as DEFENDOR ("with an OR at the end, he gets upset if you get that wrong") and find the evil genius that he blames for his mother's death.

It's a bit rushed and clunky in places, and couldn't be described as a comedy althoughj it is funny at times, but it's another original take on the theme of wannabe superheros and worth a look. Elias Koteas does another decent De Niro-lite performanace (sleazy 80s De Niro this time round) and Michael Kelly is great as Defendor's best (only?) friend and employer. Kat Dennings thankfully doesn't play the generic sociopathic superhero sidekick you might normally expect from this sort of story (I'm thinking annoying Ellen Paige in Super).

Splinter: top little shocker, bit like the thing

Capricorn 1: dated but a good conspiracy thriller, James broiling, OJ Simpson, Elliott Gould

Switchback: very rare, difficult to get hold of, Dennis quaid, jared Leto , Danny glover, nice little thriller

Sorry cant upload pics
