Cold Souls starring Paul Giamatti is pretty good. It's not the laugh riot the quotes on the box say it is but well worth seeing.

i'll have this ^

what i expected to be a glossy/john hughes type teen drama with a sport theme, it in reality was a very gritty/serious movie that deals with the problems a lot of teens go through in a very realistic way. Ive read reviews that knock the cliche's found in the movie, and whilst i admit it aint perfect, it's a hardhitting teen drama that probably deserves a little more love than it gets.

Tom Cruise's cock though

After remembering Empire's pleading to have this film released R2 in any form I finnally watched Miracle Mile for the first time last night and it sailed up my most treasured films list with such ease I was left a little shell shocked. What a stunningly effective low budget thriller Miricle Mile is. How in the hell did this pass me by?

I was going to post Last Night too but I see that has already been posted.

Fire in the Sky is such an interesting subjective subject (Alien Abduction). A gifted cast of non big namers, a well rounded scripted, fantastic cinemtography by Sam Raimi regular Bill Pope and heaps of atmosphere. The alien sequences are so believable there ingrained in my mind they absolutely scared the crap out of me.

Jennifer Eight - I’m surprised this one gets little to no attention. It would make my top 10 serial killers films.

A real hidden gem of a film would go to; Where's Marlowe?, Sometimes you come across a film you think nobody else has seen. My guess is, a lot of people probably haven't. The humour is on target, the acting is natural and it just feels so right.

I've seen this one twice it's an effective low budget apocalyptic yarn, no doubt. It's got quite the cult following. Funny enough a film directed by the same guy who did Miracle Mile also made another unsung film Cherry 2000.

One of the best £3 I ever spent. Its unpolished, parts of it seem to be an early Mean Streets draft - but its in beautiful black and white, its got a good story, and some brilliant scenes.

No one I know has heard of this, but its got a great cast, good script - its one of those films which you just enjoy.

I didn't go through all 32 pages of posts, so forgive me if it has already been mentioned, but for me, Primer is a film i buy for people to watch. One of the best time travel movies ever made.

Despite having a very dull opening credit sequence, this film is so so so good but no one I know has heard of it. Its a very dark comedy about the making of Nosferatu and whether Max Schrek is really a vampire. Brilliant performances, funny and creepy.

Some friends stumble across the "if your college roomate commits suicide then you pass without having to sit exams" myth and hatch a plan. Matthew Lillard in fine psycho form.

Jack Nicholson is a cop that's just retired but he makes a life pledge to a mother whose daughter has just been kidnapped and murdered to find the killer.

 Basically the only organised hooliganism film worth watching. .........oh, okay - you can have this one too -
 But definitely not Green Street.  Or The Firm.  Or The Football Factory.  In fact, frankly, Nick Love can go fuck himself.  Or Danny Dyer.

I think it was Renny Harlin's US Debut.
I absolutely love this film.

What stands out is the performances of Lane Smith and Viggo Mortenson the latter already a master of "Don't just do something, stand there." and Tiny Lister is just quality.
Probably one of those rare Horror flicks where the performances enhance the gore.

Plus it's still for me the golden age of horror. (Or maybe there was no internet to avoid)

Directed by Uli Edel who did Last Exit to Brooklyn and I think produced by some of the same people behind Downfall. If you know anything about the Baader Meinhof you'll know what it's about. If not, it's a quasi factual account/dramatisation of a revolutionary group in West Germany in the late 60's who turn to violence and terrorism to get their point across but in the process what it is they're supposed to be fighting gets muddied by their actions. Well worth a serious look. (only drawback are the subtitles on the DVD are too small!)

Along similar lines -
Some say it's Chabrol's worst film by far (they obviously haven't seen his later attempts at cinema), but it remains one of the most realistic kidnap films ever made.
