Agreed, Except the soft ending...
If Tina started Directing I think she could be the female eqivilent Woody Allen.

An amusing comedy thriller with a nice turn from Bill Pullman as the dysfunctional detective with servere mental issues although Stiller is just there toplay the straight man.

Bloody love this film good call Sancia, I haven't updated since I had it on video, great use of "Into my arms" By Nick Cave, cool soundtrack, this would make a great TV show, better than the police procedure shite around at the moment. Sort of Modern re-working of Sherlock Holmes but that would be a oversimplification.

My mate went to see this at the cinema, said people were laughing then looking around embarrised, Sounds like a time you would be half watching the audience around you as much as the film. Shame the director went self referential with "Story Telling" I didn't even bother with "Palendromes".

I saw it with my sister and housemate, both of whom gave me the, "how can you find this entertaining?" look. I'll always appreciate a film that makes its audience work. The confession scene is a killer.

I was some 12 years old when I saw this. It had little dialouge and was mostly politics, and it still kept me enthralled, that how good the film was. I must watch it again.

Quite a good little hostage thriller. I only rented it because Teresa Palmer from Grudge 2 and Bedtime Stories gets nekked but it's actually worth watching in its own right.

Sooooo underrated. John Boorman (Deliverance) delivers a quality film about irish gangster Martin Cahill (played by a superb Brendan Gleeson). One of the least known best British films that happens to have Jon Voight in it. If you do watch it make sure you watch the black and white version and not the colourized American one.

I also recommend Last Action Hero, like a kiddy version of Woody Allens Purple Rose of Cairo.....sue me.

I always considered this more of an Irish film.

Its very good, funny and Brendan Gleeson is awesome in it, though it does glamourise a guy who in real life was a bit of a shit-head.

Communion (1989, not the other one, AKA Alice Sweet Alice). It's kinda creepy and Christopher Walken is terrific in it.

Great film even if you're not into skateboarding, amazing filming that managed to keep up with the skaters creating a strange glide to the film before the frantic empty pool skating sequences. plus extra worth as it's a true story of the people who were pre-cursers to the famous Tony Hawks.

English title: Timecrimes.
Words cannot express how good this movie is. It blows other time travel films out of the water despite being made for peanuts. For gods sake don't watch the trailer or read up about it as it'll completely ruin the twists.

The original version of Kiss Of Death, with an absolute knockout of a debut performance by Richard Widmark as a giggling psycho.

Couldnt agree more.

Saw this at the Dublin Horrorthon last Halloween and was complete blown away. Its very simple yet very clever flick where everything just seems to spiral out of control. Kinda crappy title though.

man, that film really rocks! When I saw it as a kid it fucking terrified me.
And I though that I was the only one!  Haven't read the book though, because Koontz can be such a drag sometimes. He is really the poor man's Stephen King.

As for a gem... for horror, find In the Mouth of Madness, John Carpenter's best (yes you read right), with Sam Neil, about the power of the imagination. Oh yes, and there are a lot of twisty slimy things in it. And an ending to die for.
Do I need to say literally?
Absolution is another brilliant little gem. I think it was with Richard Burton.
Have you seen Il Mostro (The Monster) with Roberto Benigni? Laughed so hard my eyes popped.
And that's pretty serious!

Fair play to you for giving Silent Hill 9/10 I thought I was the only person who liked it, its far better than most horror movies and I would list it as an unsung gem.

Other unsung Gems, not films that havent been heard of just films that didn't get the credit they deserved.

The Matador, Brosnan at his best, hilarious film.

Sunshine, most people think its another Armageddon so won't watch it, its nothing like Armageddon and relatively original as it turns out different to what you would expect.

Stranger Than Fiction, A brilliant heartwarming film with style and a great idea.

Excellent until the last half hour or so, it's like they didn't know where to go with the story so went for a conventional slasher routine instead.

I'm an Irish man myself and must admit its excellent, well known and loved over here, and Jon Voigt has to be the only American actor ever to do a successful Irish accent.

SPOILERS

I liked the way it turned into a slasher movie as it was unexpected and a good twist up until then it had an eerie atmosphere and felt like Alien or Event Horizon, which built tension, then the last half hour it turned to a slasher movie which made it a nail biting tense finish to the film with great use of horror.
