And then who else, but Mata puts them in front. 2-1 Chelsea.

Today has been a good day for.... people who aren't imp [:D]

Seriously, your caretaker manager here to the end of the season isn't even going to get that far is he [;)]

Harry Tuttle -> RE: Chelsea Thread (2/2/2013 7:42:29 PM)

John Terry for interim manager please [sm=51.gif]

Professor Moriarty -> RE: Chelsea Thread (2/2/2013 8:27:18 PM)

Watford won today and are still going well... Just saying like [;)]

What was RDM's recod this season? 24 points from 12? And Rafa has 22 from 12? Is that progress?

Skiba -> RE: Chelsea Thread (3/2/2013 6:55:31 PM)

So Spurs' win at West Brom puts them one point behind would be a disaster and an embarrassment if they finished above us.

It'll all be fine when Jose's back next season.

Wouldn't be so certain on that even if he were to return, he could have lost his magic touch with all thats happened with Madrid this season.

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: Chelsea Thread (9/2/2013 6:35:52 PM)

I wonder if Chelsea will go back on not offering Lampard a new contract.

Skiba -> RE: Chelsea Thread (10/2/2013 11:09:34 AM)

I wonder if Chelsea will go back on not offering Lampard a new contract.

I don't think it's going to happen. He's been incredible recently...goals, goals, goals is what you get from Lampard. I just think it's too far down the line now to offering him a contract.

EDIT: Also, can Chelsea fans at the games please stop making hand-made signs and waving them around!

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: Chelsea Thread (10/2/2013 12:26:52 PM)

I think its a slight risk on the playing side of it interms of Chelsea not offering Lampard a new deal because,at this moment in time,he is giving your team the goods in goals and assistance. And Lampard has still got the legs in him to continue for a good few years yet and its not as if he's been hampered by injuries and so fourth.
What it most likely comes down to is his wages and whether he has any 'power' within the club.
I think it would be a great shame had he not finished his playing career at Chelsea.
But we'll see.

Olaf -> RE: Chelsea Thread (10/2/2013 12:36:19 PM)

One question - since he's in the last six months of his contract, couldn't he have already agreed a contract with another club if he was planning on leaving? I don't think he wants to go and once Rafa is out of the picture in May (or sooner...), I can see a new deal coming about for at least a year extension.

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: Chelsea Thread (10/2/2013 12:45:59 PM)

I dont think Rafa has any weight([:D]) in the offering Lampard a new deal.
I just see it as Roman or the other club directors not wanting Lampard to stay. They want him out.

impqueen -> RE: Chelsea Thread (13/2/2013 4:27:22 PM)

Apparently there is a game in Spain tonight of some significance but...

Thursday evening football in Prague against Sparta and a game Sunday lunchtime against Brentford. Not to make a huge thing out if it but I believe these could be our two biggest games of the season. Thatís pretty much all I have.*

Iíve tried being positive far too much these last few months (completely out of character) but it got too much in the end and I almost broke my hand so Iíve had a relaxing week away and now Iím back. Iím refreshed (except for the asthma and the hand), pleased with the Wigan result but again not at all confident and looking forward (though would prefer it to be tonight) to our next European game.

Azpilicueta impressed me during the Wigan game and heís lovely and smiley. [:D]

*Extra thoughtsÖI despise playing on Sundays and I love the city of Prague, Iíve had some great times there. [:)]

Professor Moriarty -> RE: Chelsea Thread (13/2/2013 5:26:04 PM)

Bloody hell! that is a glass half full and half full again post. Chelsea still in the chase for two titles [:D]

Chelsea this season have reminded me of what many would consider to be the typical Chelsea model before Abramovich (but more particularly Jose) came along. A great bunch of stars who can outplay anyone, but really don't like to work that hard. If you look at the Hoddle, Gullit and Vialli teams of the late 90s they won FA cups, but not that much more

Effectively 3 work horses were removed from the Chelsea starting line up this season. I am thinking of Drogba and Essien (both let go) and Terry (injured). Now there are reasons for each. But that doesn't alter the fact that they have gone and imo not been effectively replaced. The distance between the midfield and defense is often gaping. The tracking back is poor. The closing down is lethargic.

So this is a team that has a wand of a left boot in midfield. They can maraud and put 8 past a team. But if the other team has sufficient skill and ability they come up short in (imo) trying hard.

I've not looked at the Europa League, but there should be plenty of clubs capable of beating Chelsea. The FA Cup they have a chance at.

impqueen -> RE: Chelsea Thread (13/2/2013 6:39:35 PM)

I want to be positive but it is unnatural for me and I think some vengeful god punished me. My lungs packed up briefly last week, my hand was jammed in a door and Chelsea buggered about. I'm usually good at dealing with defeat or fuckery but Chelsea were starting to take the piss. [:D] I had to forget football and regroup...a week seems long enough...

I don't think we will win the other European Cup but I would like us to take it seriously and retaining the FA Cup would be nice. When Rafa first turned up our defence improved a hell off lot but it has rapidly declined again and it is both hilarious and depressing seeing him looking bewildered after matches we clearly should have won but haven't. I agree about the lack of tracking back and closing down we are currently abysmal at both and if a team takes on our defence we look scared shitless.

Rinc -> RE: Chelsea Thread (13/2/2013 7:03:50 PM)

Don't worry, Thursday night European football is the pinnacle of club football.

Saltire -> RE: Chelsea Thread (14/2/2013 1:02:46 AM)

Someone should rename this thread, the 'Champions of Europe' title is looking rather hollow [;)]

Hey, at this current time, it's still true! [:D]

Impy, hope you're feeling better, and as it's Valentine's you can have one of these [sm=love25.gif].

Prof, spot on as usual. I think Ramires is the only player that does any running. When you only play one up front, I don't expect him to be chasing full-backs, but you expect a bit more. But that's Torres!

He's incredible. He's managed to see off several managers, and we buy one of the in form strikers in PL, and he's managed to kill off his form. What a guy!

[sm=08.gif] [:D] I'm fine thanks.

The game was ugly and dull as feck but little Oscar is thirty seconds on the pitch and we get the win. Nice one. [:)]

impqueen -> RE: Chelsea Thread (17/2/2013 12:51:57 PM)

We are trying to be far too clever. Admittedly weíve done everything but score (unlike Brentford who haveÖ[:-]) but I have that feeling itís going to be one of those days. [8|]

impqueen -> RE: Chelsea Thread (17/2/2013 1:46:48 PM)

We'd be screwed without Mata and Oscar.

impqueen -> RE: Chelsea Thread (17/2/2013 1:55:19 PM)

Good win, never thought I'd be so pleased to beat Brentford. [:)]
