I'm pleased with the Gamespot review of Perfect Dark Zero, their Quake 4 review was also really good. Not long now people [sm=w00t.gif]

I had a quick play of Quake IV last Wednesday in Game. I didn't play on it long enough to judge how good it was, as Jackie was holding down a nine year old who was playing on it.

It looked nice, espcially on the high def screens, but it was in the middle of a level and I had no bullets at all.

Hmmm, I hope my post has given you some insight into my life and how I think.

I can't understand why everyone wants a 360. Wait a year people. There'll be a better selection of games and you won't be ripped off for it. The price is ridiculous at the moment for something that really isn't that much of a step up from the original Xbox.

What? First of all, to say it isn't that much of a step up from the original Xbox is just asinine. Most conservative estimates put it at six times more powerful than the Xbox.

Secondly, £210 is not a lot of money for a console as powerful as the 360 at launch. It's only £30 more than a PSP, for example. Did you know that, when it launched, a Commodore 64 was £350? That was over 20 years ago, so if you take inflation into account as well, THAT is a ridiculous price - but I bet the people that bought it at that price back in the day were well impressed.

Those wacky Yanks. It's insane that that amount of money is nothing to some people. It's doubly insane that the buyer will have to wait two weeks for the system to ship. And to top it all off, the seller will probably be disappointed because, given that the buyer has a rep of 0, he's probably looking at a non-paying bidder.

You do realise you can't play games on Live with the core pack, don't you?  I'm surprised that folks aren't shelling out the extra £70 quid for the premium pack, considering you get wireless, a DVD remote (until the first batch of stocks run out, which they undoubtably have) and the all important hard drive to download all the new features that will imminently be available for Perfect Dark Zero.

Ten days, people!  Ten long days....  I'm putting some serious thought into a drug induced coma, y'know.  Damn Kahn't Wayt, the evil god of Impatience, damn you straight to hell!

My brother was going to queue for his last night somewhere in Tampa........ Most stores there were issuing on first come, first served basis.

Even better for him - HIS WORK WERE PAYING FOR IT!!!!
Not as in, they pay him his wages so he then buys it....... literally they were giving him the cash for it!

Haven't heard yet as to whether or not he was successful.

I know all that Rod, and of course have preordered the premium pack. I was merely using the £210 price point for maximum effect in my rebuttal to Jack's post.

Just been to Game and double checked that I'll get my order on launch day [:D] also Amazon.co.uk are selling the 2 disc collectors edition of Perfect Dark Zero for £39.99 a huge saving of £10 compared to Game instore and £5 compared to Play.com [sm=happy34.gif]

Core Machines are your best bet if you must have one, if not then call Asda and ask them if they are accepting Pre-orders or if they will open at Midnight.

wouldnt touch a core machine.. no point. Asda dont know how many they are getting but arent taking preorders, just first come first served. There is one near work so will get up early and pop in.

In a way i'm quite relieved, cant really afford one if i'm sensible and will rpobably get call of Duty for my PC anyway considering i just got  anew graphics card. King Kong and Gun i can wait for and Perect Dark and Kameo can also wait.. i suppose.

WIll still try my luck at ASDA though [;)]

At least i know i will be getting one in the next month-ish

Was in GAME the other weekend collecting the 360 DVD I got a letter about and asked if I was getting my premium pack on launch day, to which the guy replied:

"Did you put a £20 deposit down?"

"Yup, two months ago!"

"Then you'll be getting one on launch day!"

He then muttered something about them only accepting cash deposits on there allocated amount of machines or something, hence why I'll get mine.

Hopefully I wasn't being fed bullshit but we'll see!

You will be waiting another month for the Edge review I am afraid. Was looking forward to reading it in my copy today but it seems they did not get the finished game in time.

I popped into GAME this avo to ask, what with all the nonsense about shortages in the news, if I would be guaranteed one when I pop round at midnight next Thursday. The answer I got, and I'm paraphrasing here, was that "probably only people who ordered before about the 20th August will be guaranteed one, hopefully". According to my receipt, I plonked my score down on 3rd of September so I really hope you weren't being fed bullshit as on that rationale, I'll get one two. I swear to god, if I don't get one next Thursday night I will tell everybody I know, and everybody I don't that will listen to boycott GAME!!! [;)]

Just checked my receipt also (which is barely fucking readable I might add, the ink/heat paper has completed faded over the last couple of months!), 27th August!

It's a strange series of events really, was with my mate several weeks ago when he tried pre-oredering one in GAME, after they'd stopped laughing and told him no chance they said they were only getting about 15 consoles in. How many of those were premium consoles is anyone's guess, I do distinctly remember being about 10th on the list though so fingers crossed!
