luvinfilms -> (23/2/2006 8:00:36 PM)

one of the best films ever made

alexisreaver2132 -> loved it (11/5/2006 10:53:57 AM)

i enjoyed this one as much as the others despite some flaws. still a classic and a good way to end the saga.

huny_monster -> (16/5/2006 9:39:38 PM)

When I first saw it I was really tense and scared, as I thought that Luke would get killed and Leia would have to kill Darth Vader and the Emperor or something like that. So I really thing its a first time best film, but I still love to watch it over and over again as its my favourite film. I am guiltily a huge fan of Ewoks. They are the coolest thing George Lucas created.

casino -> (6/7/2006 1:10:00 PM)

very very good second sequal

heresjimmyy! -> (24/8/2006 11:23:36 AM)

The worst StarWars film IMO butn still great none the less

Bond -> Star War Episode 6: Return of the Jedi (29/8/2006 12:06:47 PM)

This is a worthy sequel but its nowhere near as good as it predeccessors. The jedi are coming back for the final battle between good and evil. Han is back, Luke has a green lightsaber and is still a cocky git. Secrets we learn are not very surprising but relevent. We finally see Jubba the Hutt (unless you count the New Hope extended version) Plus we are introduced to the Ewoks, they weren't that bad (not as bad as Jar Jar) they knew how to fight. This is a good way to end off the saga and it leaves with a warm feeling because you know thta good prevails over evil (like that wasen't predictable)

CHEWIEHAN -> Jedi Rules! (12/9/2006 12:02:30 PM)

Jedi has flaws - yes. The ewoks scene dips in interest but other than that it is a fantastic finale to the original trilogy. The battles have not been outdone in cinema since. Leia in a gold bikini has not been outdone in cinema since. And it wrapped everything up neatly. Jedi back. Father redeemed. And Leia in a gold bikini as a memory that is one to tresure for the rest of our miserable existances! 5 Stars!!!!!

Jim Bob -> 4 Stars? What bollocks.. (25/9/2006 9:07:35 PM)

..just watched the original version of this on dvd and despite having seen it more times than i care to admit, i was still blubbing like a big girl at the end.

A Classic 5 star movie if ever there was one.

loz_xxx -> great end!! (4/2/2007 2:42:58 PM)

It was a great end to the trilogy, with the good side winning and vader redeeming himself n all!! but them ewoks were nearly as bad as Jar Jar Binks, apart from der cooler!!

mafyou -> Empire has got this wrong (22/5/2007 9:36:33 PM)

This is a truly superb piece of film making. Clearly 5 stars.

As good as the two that preceed it, why people doubt this i have no idea.

One day, the world will get over Jar Jar Binks and the Ewoks and wake up to what are brilliant films. This particular applies to Jedi, and i challenge anyone to watch the end without a tear in their eye. The music is at the end is perfect as it contains joy with underlying melancholy - something that sums up Star Wars beautifully.

Jedi is a masterpiece on all fronts, Hamill's Luke truly comes to life and truly becomes a Jedi and grows up from that young boy who looked out to the suns of Tatooine (watching the prequels really helps to establish this). Han faces responsibilies without losing character and Leia is as wonderful and beautiful as ever.

The darkness and conflict is in the subtext, it's in the music, it's in the eyes; you just have to get over the Ewoks.

JagLover -> RE: Empire has got this wrong (23/5/2007 10:41:23 AM)

I think this movie is unfairly slated because it includes the 'care bears going to war' that aside this stands comparison with both IV and V. You finally see the Emperor and the end sequence with the struggle between the Vader and Luke while the rebel fleet is being destroyed outside is the best of all the original trilogy.

Perhaps it is not a five star film like Empire Strikes Back, but certainly worthy of 4.5 stars.

Gazdance -> RE: Empire has got this wrong (23/5/2007 7:50:56 PM)

Return of the Jedi is certainly not as good as it's two predecessors but still manages to be better than all three of the prequels put together.  I even think it's better than A New Hope but that's just because I know the story and the characters so well that I find the 'set-up' of ANH too boring.

In Jedi we get that rarest of things (especially given this summers disappointing threequels), an end to a trilogy that delivers emotionally, thematically and spectacularly.  Lukes final battle with Vader and Williams accompanying score is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, while the Emperor (in the context of the original trilogy thankfully lacking the pantomime camp evilness that ruined the character in the prequels) comes across as genuinely evil, especially as we know very little about him, just that he's an even bigger 'bad' than Vader.
The Death Star attack is even more spectacular than the first time around and the whole finale, given that we actually like and care about these characters (unlike the prequels) carries genuine emotional weight.  Hell, it's even a tearful  moment when Vader's pyre burns (again, Williams score doing a great job of enhancing the scene)!

Other high points are without doubt the speeder bike chase, the escape from jabba's barge and the forest battle.

Spiderman 3 and At Worlds End should have taken a leaf out of this ones book in how to end your trilogy.

Seth_Gecko -> RE: Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (24/5/2007 11:12:21 AM)

fuckin classic

rich -> RE: Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (24/5/2007 11:54:45 AM)

Great stuff, the Emporer, Jabba the Hut, speeder bikes, the space battle etc etc. The ewok village section slows it down and is the only problem here, classic stuff.

You've not seen many films then?

goldleader -> RE: RE: (24/5/2007 3:01:18 PM)

As a kid Return of the Jedi was always my fav Star Wars film.  Come on to a kid Luke is one cool hard bastard in this film.  But as the years have gone by i came to see that Empire was the better film and A New Hope is more innocent.  But Jedi has many classic Star Wars moments for me these include:  First time for a green LightSaber, Speedbikes, The imperial shuttle, The Emporer, The red Emporers guards, Jabba the Hutt and of course Admiral Akbar.  It is a great finish the the original trilogy and the whole saga.  The hightlight for me though is the Falcon in full battle mode and then escaping the fire and explosion of the Death Star.

mrdoom14 -> RE: RE: (24/5/2007 5:52:50 PM)

I disagree with the empire review as I was not disapointed by this film. Its worthy of five stars.

DaveNewman18 -> RE: RE: (24/5/2007 9:38:13 PM)

A truly great film, injected with dozens of brilliant moments, it is unfairly judged every now and then but it does have its flaws, but still, at least it dosent have Sofia Coppola in it.

simonmckergan1 -> RE: RE: (25/5/2007 10:18:33 AM)

I liked it when I was a child, and I still love it.  A fitting end to the orginal trilogy.  5 stars.

the sangypange -> RE: RE: (25/5/2007 11:43:24 AM)

Not the best one of the trilogy but still better than any of the prequals, i love the bit when luke fights the Rankor

I think we can all agree that if it had been WOOKIES not EWOKS the world would be a much better place. However, you cannot slate the desert scene at the start, it is one of my favourite starwars bits. The big space battle is also great in this movie (even if it does eclipse the New Hope one in size... just from where does the Empire get all those Star Destroyers...?)

danbo1138 -> RE: Empire has got this wrong (30/5/2007 12:28:56 AM)

fucking ace movie,in my top 10 with out a doubt...
but i beg to differ with the fact that the ''jedi are back''....luke turns to the darkside,he loses his temper and chops his fathers hand off!
to quote yoda'once you start down the dark path..forever will it dominate your destiny''or summat like that .

marky_77 -> RE: Empire has got this wrong (9/6/2007 7:12:51 PM)

it's a great film a part from all the teddy bears! either them or cgi now!!! gets bogged down half way through, but was always my fave as a kid, with star wars second. empire was concidered the boring one back then, and my mates and i hardly watched it. empire is great though of course...

Marty5 -> (6/8/2007 5:52:46 PM)

I loved this film along with the other 2 but do agree it is the worst of them, but that isnt a bad thing. It was always gonna be really hard to follow a film like empire strikes back. This film is totally worthy of a 5 star rating.

dhollseed -> Still 5-stars (18/8/2007 3:01:01 AM)

The last third is absolutely amazing action and drama. Spectacular space battles, Luke' almost endless pain at the Emperor's sizzling hands, Vader's goose-pimpling repentance...easily 5-stars. The first scenes with Jabba et al are also brilliant.

The bike-race scenes...energetic and rush-laden. Luke's emergence as a serious and strong Master Jedi...awe-inspiring. This was the most effective character development for Luke Skywalker as he was always going to lose in the charisma stakes.

My God, how can I say Empire's my favourite when this is so bloody good?!

shool -> RE: Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (3/9/2007 11:41:19 AM)

Horrorguru -> RETURN OF THE WTF??? WAS GEORGE LUCAS ON? (12/3/2008 8:35:26 PM)

What the F**K this film is terrible. small irritating teddy bears that shout "WOW, JINDHA" any chance they can get. hell one of them humps harrison fords leg. i hate the ewoks and chewbacca should rape them. a shit ending to a great franchise.
