According to The Times, The Sun and Sky Sports News amongst others, Goldenshowers has been dropped by Super Mac and his international career is over. Unlucky, you massive, massive penis.

You can stll get 5/1 on him not adding to his 94 caps, hurry people, hurry!!

Walter_Kovacs -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 12:49:54 PM)

I can't help but wonder if this is McClaren showing us that he's got balls or if he's just attempting to please the general consensus that were calling for Beckham to be dropped. Maybe it's that purveyor of sleaze Clifford weaving his 'magic'.

Goodfella -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 12:56:29 PM)

I don't think McClaren will just go and drop Beckham like that plus Aaron Lennon could do with a full season in the premiership to improve his international game, it would be a lot of pressure on the young lad to throw him in there straight away.

Benty played for us in our 2-1 win against Germinal Beschroot the other night so he's back to fitness which means with both Owen and Rooney and speaking of dropping, Walcott being demoted to the international squad he should have been in from the first place, surely Mac has to include him Johnson and Defoe.

If Beckham is a "massive, massive penis", then I'm proud that you've called me the same.  He's been a good player, a very good captain and, even considering his shameless material excesses (which are hardly unique), is transparently a decent human being.  He should - of course - have to prove that he's worth a place in the team, but the vitriol reserved for him in quarters of the press (and these boards) is difficult to comprehend.

PedroSanchez -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 1:08:08 PM)

How is this news even remotely funny? I'm with rick_7. Beckham was a good captain and obviously a very good player. To call him a 'massive, massive penis' is just childish and offensive.

Its not confirmed yet, so the name of this thread does seem to be a tad premature. Its interesting to see lil steve try to grow some balls and lay down his "authority" (snigger) by dropping Beckham. I think its a safe bet that Beckham will win a few more caps before his time is out.

jesseLujack -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 1:19:57 PM)

I would say it must be down to fitness reason above anything else.  Okay so he's not injured but he's probably no where near match fitness.

Beckham was and is an excellent player. If anyone things we have the squad depth and talent to leave a player of his calibre out, then they are very misguided.

Rinc -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 1:21:25 PM)

Agree with the above statements i do. Beckham's just become a whipping boy for some people.

I wouldn't have dropped him from the squad, maybe from the team though. Now it looks like we'll have Lennon, SWP and Pennant battling it out. One has a season in the PL, one had a terrible year last year, and the other is only in line for a call-up because he moved to Liverpool and Birmingham are obviously unfashionable.

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 1:23:36 PM)

I thought the reason Beckham won't be in the squad for the friendly later this month is because he is recovering from an ankle injury and isn't going to rush back to the england team? [&:]

Thats what BBC online says anyway. Huge furore over nothing I'd imagine.

That's what I thought. Although didn't the Real team go over the American this week and Beckham go on for 20 odd minutes?

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 1:31:41 PM)

It wouldn't be this widely reported in both broad-sheet and gutter press, as well as the radio if there was no truth in it. He's had a pre-season and should be as fit as any other player in contention.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's been in decline for a couple of years (imagine what he'll be like in 2008) and, when you ally that to the fact he's never had a good tournament for England, it has to be the right decision. It's not going to be pretty watching him turn into a figure of fun, he deserves better and should realise himself the time has come. I'm actually quite impressed by McLaren for this move, still reckon he's a nipple, though.

Yeah he might have done, but he mentioned not wanting to rush back for an England friendly, he didn't say the same about Real, and he won't have played for long.

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 2:56:46 PM)

Foster and Ashton have been included in the squad.

Fluke Skywalker -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:00:13 PM)

Beckham will be back - he gave his all for England and is due some respect. I think his experience will always help younger players and therefore should be included in any future England squads if fit.

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:11:28 PM)

Not according to what McLaren just said.

Starscream -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:12:56 PM)

its good to see Foster in the england team and wes back as well  [sm=14.gif]

Yep, he's stated that he's moving in a different direction, and direction right now looks like Lennon and SWP vying for the right wing.

Hopefully now Ian Wright will shut the fuck up.

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:16:18 PM)

Looks like Big Gay (allegedly) Sol and Calamity are fucked, too.

Sexual Harassment Panda -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:18:54 PM)

I'm glad McClaren included Wes Brown and Phil Neville, two very deserving players.

yeah he can also back up Gaz in the right back role with  Luke Young unlike Carragher.

Is Ledley King still Injured?

shegs_81 -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:37:34 PM)

King is still injured. I expect the team to be:

                 Robinson

Neville    Carragher   Brown   Cole

Lennon  Hargreaves  Gerrard  Richardson

            Ashton

                        Defoe

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:39:38 PM)

You don't think he's going to play his new captain? I think you might be mistaken.

                        Robinson

Neville        Terry          Dawson         Cole

                   Hargreaves
Lennon                      Gerrard             Downing

                   Ashton
                                Defoe

Starscream -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:43:20 PM)

Rio and Terry will play at the start

Oh dear. Good job there's only 13 minutes of my working week left. [:)]

Now, do I cowardly edit the post and pretend it never happened or take my humiliation like a man?

shegs_81 -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:46:00 PM)

Rio's ankle injury is sposed to rule him out isn't it? Terry's looking pale to me too [;)] .

jimminycrickets -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:47:22 PM)

Yeah, King of Merks is out otherwise I'd fully expect him to start.

shegs_81 -> RE: Beckham Dropped. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. (11/8/2006 3:53:13 PM)

I also think Brown and Carragher might be above Dawson in the pecking order for CB alongside Terry.
