wannabe -> The Monster Squad!!! (18/7/2006 10:29:56 AM)

'The Monster Squad' is a brilliant piece of film making. I love.  Okay so the acting was pretty cheesy but hey I was about 12 years old.

"Wolfman's got balls!"

BRILLIANT...what do you think???

matthewforan -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (18/7/2006 11:38:32 AM)

Yeah it is a classic me and my sister used to rent it every Friday. I got it last Christmas on VHS and it is still as good as I remember it.

jesseLujack -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (18/7/2006 11:48:06 AM)

Any news on a dvd release for this, I had to buy a VHS transfer [:(]

Sutty -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (29/7/2006 8:29:27 PM)

Great film. Must have seen it a thousand times as a kid.
Beats Van Helsing any day, baby!

No sign of a dvd release yet but it is surely only a matter of time. In the meantime here is a trailer and the montage from the movie. Rock until you drop!

Pritchard_540 -> RE: Vote for The Monster Squad on DVD! (29/7/2006 10:40:25 PM)

managed to get this on VHS recently and hadn't seen it in years.  The scene where Frankenstiens monster delivers the line "Bogus!" is still as cheesy as ever but was there ever a better line than "My name...is Horace!"

Just checked it on IMDB and found Shane Black wrote this!  Oh and I don't want to sound picky but the line is "Wolfman's got nards!"  Only remember that because I quoted that line far more than I can remember.  It's a classic.

doobydoo -> RE: Vote for The Monster Squad on DVD! (8/8/2006 10:35:10 AM)

i remember thinking the monster squad theme tune was the best thing ever! i played the video at full volume and then recorded it on to my tape recorder - which in true 80's fashion was red, balck and chrome.

hawkeye10 -> RE: Vote for The Monster Squad on DVD! (8/8/2006 11:17:36 AM)

Finally, the following is growing for this classic.

How about another 80's classic: The boy who could fly.

doobydoo -> RE: Vote for The Monster Squad on DVD! (8/8/2006 12:06:23 PM)

The Boy Who Could Fly... oh yeah! Fred Savage and his water pistol full of piss, CLASSIC!

I didn't see this film til I was about 19 and busted up laughing the entire time, then I watched it a second time, couple of years later, wasn't as fun as the first time.

It is indeed another bootleg.  The film was shown in remastered HD on American TV and this is just a recording of that.

Finally got round to watching the 2-discer - worth every penny!

Yes it's Goonies with monsters and a cheaper budget, but the charm is all there.I forgot how cool Rudy was. [:D]

Harley Quinn -> RE: The Monster Squad on DVD! (6/4/2009 9:37:30 AM)

How I love this film.

Can't get my hands on a copy though. [X(]

Kazuya -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (6/4/2009 9:45:07 AM)

I love this one, have loved it ever since I was a kid, back then I watched it at least once a week. I've expressed my admiration many times on this forum whenever it came up in various threads, or the very slight buzz when it was finally released on dvd. I bought it the second it was available of course, and it's every bit as good as it ever was. (I still have my VHS though, that's a keeper) The effects by Richard Edlund, I think, then eye-popping, are now old-school charm instead. But the qualities of the movie, the funny, sharp script, the all around solid performances of the kids, the joy of seeing the classic monsters together (with a twist), the great music by Bruce Broughton, are irresistible.

Tech_Noir -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (6/4/2009 9:56:32 AM)

Peter Hyams, Stan Winston, Richard Edlund, Shane Black... quite a selection of talent involved.

And will anyone agree that Patrick's sister was hot? [:D]

DazDaMan -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (6/4/2009 10:10:02 AM)

Patrick: You're not a virgin are you?
Patrick's Sister: [shakes her head]
Patrick: No? What do you mean No?
Patrick's Sister: Well, Steve... but he doesn't count.
Patrick: DOESN'T COUNT?

Definitely.

"That's your sister?!"

fuzzy -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (6/4/2009 8:02:14 PM)

Where did Dracula get that car? ...and how the hell does he know how to drive?... And how did that kid's letter get to the military?... let it go Fuzzy, it's not worth it!

Tech_Noir -> RE: The Monster Squad!!! (6/4/2009 8:10:28 PM)

Why was Dracula's coffin being flown to the US?

These questions don't need answering, the film is just plain fun. [:D]

Unfortunately it's only available on R1 but it's worth it if you can play it.  I've lost count of how many times I've watched it since I got it.

Tech_Noir -> RE: The Monster Squad on DVD! (7/4/2009 7:05:59 PM)

I got mine from PlayUSA, might be cheaper because there's no postage costs.

Snake-Eyes -> RE: The Monster Squad on DVD! (7/4/2009 7:42:42 PM)

I remember watching this at my parents' video shop way back when, I went to school the following Monday yelling - "I've seen this WICKED Film! It's better than THE GOONIES!" - of course, it took a long time for the other kids to catch up with me and finally watch it. Great Film. I still have the R1 dvd unopened amongst a HUGE pile of unopened dvds on my shelf! Gotta watch it soon.... I think I'll have a special weekend of THE MONSTER SQUAD followed by the Complete Series of DRAK PACK and THE GROOVIE GOOLIES; only really cool dudes will know what I'm on about.

Snake-Eyes -> RE: The Monster Squad on DVD! (19/1/2010 6:52:39 AM)

PATRICK "My sister speaks German in High School."

FAT KID: "Your sister doesn't speak German! All she does is hang around and let guys touch her tits!"
