that one is in my top 10 bonds.

The main thing I take from that is that I didn't even know than we no longer employed Milkmen![;)]

Just kidding, it was a good piece, if a bit sniffy about Dalton in places.

It's still the best one for me. Pretty sure I see milk floats driving around here. Then again for some reason this article claims that Terry O'Quinn played Felix Leighter...?

ElephantBoy -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (9/5/2014 7:32:41 PM)

Not sure if we have done this before, but top five Bond theme tunes?

1. Goldfinger
2. Live and Let Die
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. Diamonds Are Forever
5. A View to a Kill

Mister Coe -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (9/5/2014 8:23:51 PM)

I think the Bond theme thing has been done before, but here's my opinion as of today...

1 - Nobody Does It Better (The Spy Who Loved Me)
2 - Live And Let Die
3 - You Know My Name (Casino Royale)
4 - A View To A Kill
5 - Goldfinger

The worst ever has to be that fuck-awful Madonna song from DAD...

rich -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (9/5/2014 10:33:57 PM)

The Living Daylights
Goldfinger
You Know My Name
Surrender
Live and Let Die

Dr Lenera -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (10/5/2014 8:35:04 AM)

1/ We Have All The Time In The World
2/ You Only Live Twice
3/ Live And Let Die
4/ Moonraker
5/ Diamonds Are Forever

ElephantBoy -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (10/5/2014 11:52:54 PM)

The love for You Know My Name is scaring me that maybe the worse ever[:-]

rich -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (11/5/2014 1:33:08 AM)

It's an unbeatable team up by Chris Cornell and David Arnold, what's not to like [;)]

EB, 'You Know My Name' is gutsy, loud, great lyrics, brilliantly-sung and sounds like it comes from someone with a huge pair of bollocks who doesn't take any shit. Much like Mr Bond...

'Die Another Day' is the real low point, IMO... annoyingly bleepy car alarm bollocks from a singer well past her sell-by date. 'Sigmund Frued, analyse this...' WTF has that got to do with Bond? It's a leftover from Madonnas recording sessions, dragged out when someone waved a big cheque in her face and the promise of a cameo appearance to prop up her dreadful 'acting' career.

Still haven't heard the Madonna theme am sure its shit though. Just image if she had done it in the 80s!

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (12/5/2014 1:26:13 PM)

Nobody Does it Better is by far the best Bond theme. In fact i think it's one of the best songs ever written for a movie.

Is that from DAD?

One which is quite underrated is LTK. Never really liked it, but listened to it the other day and now really like it.

rich -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (12/5/2014 7:21:18 PM)

No it was in Quantum of Solace, wasn't a fan of the vocals personally.

ElephantBoy -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (12/5/2014 7:30:01 PM)

Oh, the Jack White/Alica Keys one! Still not heard it.

Mister Coe -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (12/5/2014 7:55:33 PM)

Another Way To Die is an odd one for me... really hated it on first listen, but it's grown on me a lot, I wouldn't put it in my top 5, but probably in my top 15...

Here it is, for EB...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM5UJvnbbuY

And, as I said before, here's the real low point IMO, Die Another Day...

Thanks for that will listen later.

To be fair when there's been 22 Bond Films to say than it is in your top 15 theme tunes isn't really high praise[:D]

Ax101 -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (15/5/2014 12:18:33 PM)

1. Best Bond film

On her Majesty's Secret Service

2. Best Bond theme tune

Goldfinger

Well, there have been more than one song in certain Bond movies...

Here's another one I really like, from 'The Living Daylights'... think I've posted it before but what the hell...

That's true, but I thought you meant just the theme tunes. Living Daylights has to be one of the best overall Bond soundtracks.

Definitely the best by a country mile.
The worst would have to be Live And Let Die.

Can't agree with that, the way that song just builds to the main verse and than hits that killer beat is pure pop genuis. Goldfinger is quite easily the best for me, but Live and Let Die would be up there after that.

ElephantBoy -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (19/5/2014 11:42:12 PM)

Today I got the two disc Ultimate Edition of Goldfinger for 3![sm=happy34.gif] Just watched it to relax myself, and not only enjoyed the film just as much as always, but restoration was excellent, nearly as good as when I viewed it on the big screen a few summers ago. A simply awesome Bond film on so many levels.

Mister Coe -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (20/5/2014 7:48:46 PM)

Haven't watched GOLDFINGER in a good long while, I must remedy that...

If memory serves (and this really dates it from the 60's), wasn't Pussy Galore a villain (and, it was hinted, a lesbian) but all it took to turn her around was a damn good shagging from Bond? [:D]

If so, dammit, we need Daniel Craig to do something similar in the next Bond film!!!

[sm=happy07.gif]

Yep.Apparently Bond '' must have appealed to her maternal instincts ''.[:D]

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (21/5/2014 8:32:53 AM)

I heard that they edited some of the audio commentaries to remove some questionable stuff for the blu rays, including a reference to Pussy Galore being turned straight by Bond.

I find that hilarious given that back when the film was released that the censors had no problem with Bond practically raping Pussy Galore in that barn. She tries to fight him off and everything but he just forces himself on her! [:D]

ElephantBoy -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (22/5/2014 2:52:07 PM)

Never thought about her being gay before just that she was a bit of a feminist character. It puts another angle on things for sure.

Goldfinger seems to be quite a self-aware Bond also, with some of the one-liners and gender politics. You have Goldfinger turning the tables on Bond with "No Mr Bond I expect you to die" line, and then Bond's almost paying for his sexism with his privates[:D]

rich -> RE: The Best Bond Film? (22/5/2014 5:56:19 PM)

There are plenty of unsavory aspects throughout Fleming's work and the film versions as if we hadn't noticed, it's just an unfortunate sign of when they were made.
