Chris Nolan!

While I personally find him a tad clinical and humourless for Bond, I would have always said his fee would have ruled him out. But Mendes must be commanding a considerable fee himself after Skyfall, so they probably could get Nolan if they wanted.

But Skyfall had an awful lot of heart for me and that is something Nolan doesn't deliver. Mendes gets my vote to take it from here but I'd be curious to see a Nolan Bond at some point I suppose. More than Hooper at any rate!

a billion. Why does wanting Nolan make them witless?

Nolan is basically turning into the directorial Nathan Fillion. He's the guy who gets suggested for every gig on the internet.

"They're making a Care Bears movie? NOLAN MUST DIRECT!!!!"

It's getting a tad silly now.

The reason Nolan is suggested is that he is - at the very least - a good British filmaker, who is also a self-confessed Bond fan.

I, for one, would happily pay to see his take on Bond

Anyone but Nolan. Actually not literally anyone, but definitely not Nolan.

I completely understand your point ... but I would fucking love to see Nolan direct a Care Bears movie!! A prequel explaining why Grumpy Bear is so grumpy.

Back on topic, I really didn't think Skyfall was as great as it was made out to be. I get they want a good director but Mendes isn't the only one. Craig's not getting any younger so I think they just need to get it done as I really don't want Craig to be the next Moore, running around in his 60s

paulmitchell -> New bond (29/5/2013 9:36:30 PM)

Let NOLAN direct the new bond after Craig, get Henry cavill.

Nicky C -> Bond has dodgy scripts, not dodgy Directors. (31/5/2013 3:43:47 PM)

If it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage. Personally, I don't give a flying fiddle who directs. Bond has done fine when it's had journeyman directors and good scripts. It's also done badly when it's had authorial directors and poor writing. Whoever directs, I'm just glad that Purvis and Wade are no longer involved. Thank Paul Haggis and John Logan for bolting down Casino Royale and Skyfall. Really pleased Logan's going solo.

It's easy to agree with both sides, really. Nolan's excellent at plot, in fact some times he has too much which is a problem lots of people wish they had. I think his love of mystery, big reveals and action would be perfect for Bond. I'd love to see Bond unravelling a Nolan puzzle. However, one thing that Nolan's films aren't is sexy and that's a real problem when your protagonist is a right-wing, imperialist douchebag who walks around like a dog with two dicks. The man's a walking hard-on, after all. Bond without sex is like, well ... Inception.

Cant disagree with that.

I agree that Nolan's films aren't sexy but I think he can do sexy he just chooses not to overload his films with sex appeal which I appreciate, Batman Begins is a very good film and I think people would struggle to argue that it needed to be sexier. But he can do sexy; Catwoman in DKR was extremely sexy and I know a few women who found Eames in Inception to be just as sexy. If you look at Eames actually he's quite clearly inspired by Bond as is the snow chase he gets. I personally think Nolan would do a fantastic Bond film but it's a shame he gets suggested for everything because there are things (like Bond) that he would be very good at.

Ben Affleck I think would be great and unexpected choice.
