TPM007 -> Avatar knocked off it's perch! (5/12/2012 11:36:04 AM)

As a Bond fan, of course I'm delighted with this news, but I'm more happy that the goddamn awful and overated Avatar is no longer at the top of this list. But glad to see a British hero at the top of the British all time chart, rather than a bunch of smurfs!

Havnt seen it myself but it looks like despite no matter how bad a movie is, as long as you have an established brand name and sufficent hype and advertising, a movie can make loads at the box office.

Cool, you do realize that this has almost done almost 400 million more then QoS right?

You don't simply get so much success by simply having a brand-name with Bond, otherwise it would have probably been QoS money it's getting. Some people liked it or liked it a lot.

Oh and well done UK, you've finally redeemed yourself for Mamma Mia.[:D]

A good film is the highest grossing of all time (in the UK)?

About fucking time.

That can account for a good opening weekend / first week but a bad movie would drop off very quickly. This isn't hype it's repeat business and and good word of mouth. No amount of marketing money can buy that. People like Skyfall because it is in short A Fucking great film. Accept that , shut up and move on.

Oh and the bit about not having seen it - don't believe that for a second.

The sound of toys being thrown out of the pram is glorious.

Rebel scum -> RE: Skyfall Is The UK's Biggest Film Ever (5/12/2012 7:11:42 PM)

No no, box office in no way reflects on a film's quality, unless it's the Star Wars prequels because they are the perfect perfection.

DancingClown -> RE: Skyfall Is The UK's Biggest Film Ever (5/12/2012 8:14:53 PM)

"James Bond is a cunt." - Paul Greengrass. So quoth the Cool Breeze.

And yet Greengrass went to the Skyfall premiere.

He was a bit of a cunt towards Severine though.

Rotten Tomatoes: Critics 92%, Audience 88%

Yeah, it's a really bad movie(!)

Well, you can't say that though, can you? You can't say it's a bad film if you haven't seen it.

Silly.

Don Pheramone -> Not quite Casino (7/12/2012 4:22:40 PM)

Nice to see this film overtake Avertar, but I was dissapointed with the fim overall, which is strange because all the essential ingredients were there, it just wasn't mixed to my liking. Casino Royal was a good deal better and for me is even better than Goldfinger, just. I would love to see a remake of OHMSS with Daniel Craig, stunning backdrops, Blofeld, real stunt work potential and a great score.
