sjessep -> (9/11/2012 12:10:59 AM)

I'm actually excited about Star Wars for the first time since 1999, and I don't get the naysayers. Do you want the final word to be the prequel trilogy and take Jar Jar to your grave? Or do you want the people behind Toy Story 3 and The Avengers to have a go at resurrecting the ashes of your childhood? I know which I prefer...

theonering -> (9/11/2012 8:28:43 AM)

Touche, as a life long fan, another film can only be seen as positive. I'll be in line in 2015

jmebaby25 -> RE: (9/11/2012 8:55:08 AM)

Everything about this is sounding great. The rumours suggest that Hamill, Fischer & Ford are on board now.

See, all it took was Lucas to get out of the way.

I should note that I'm not a Lucas hater. It's just that he's a terrible writer and director. Kudos to the man though for letting go of his baby and for giving all of the proceeds of the sale to charity.

Lets hope they get a stellar director on board

Dannybohy -> RE: Arndt Wrote Star Wars Treatments (9/11/2012 10:18:35 AM)

Oh yeh!! shaping up nicely!!

he’s a die-hard Star Wars fan who has lectured on the first trilogy’s scripts at screenwriting seminars!! good news!!

Fit Kisto -> RE: Arndt Wrote Star Wars Treatments (9/11/2012 5:28:09 PM)

Encouraging choice.

Here's the part where we find out Damon Lindelof has been brought in as the second writer. [:D]

BenTramer -> And So It Begins... (9/11/2012 8:03:01 PM)

I'd like to see Joseph Kosinski who made Disney's Tron Legacy get to direct Star Wars 7. I thought that was a dazzling-looking film. Or you could hire Martin Campbell who made two superb James Bond movies in Casino Royale and GoldenEye. George Lucas did a great job on the first two Star Wars films but the next four left a lot to be desired. (Instead of milking fans of money with three prequel movies, Lucas should really have done one good 3-hour film of Anakin's turn to the dark side.)

BenTramer -> (9/11/2012 8:25:26 PM)

And by the way, Zack Snyder, the new Star Wars films are only a "slippery slope" if you screw them up. If you reinvent the franchise and deliver some classic old school thrills in a new 21st Century way, you'll be the hero of heroes to all the fanboys and girls out there. Consider the gauntlet thrown down to you, sir!

AndyKirk -> Serenity flies again! (10/11/2012 8:07:50 AM)

Come on Disney, let Whedon weave his magic. Han Solo under Joss Whedon's direction - please, please, please!

theonering -> (10/11/2012 8:30:45 AM)

Got a feeling its gonna be either jj or bird

BenTramer -> (10/11/2012 8:54:18 AM)

Wow, George Lucas looks like he does not want to be there at all in that clip. His body language in it is fascinating. This is the first time we've seen him speak since the Disney deal. The control freak has given up control and it's written all over his face. Notice the puppy dog eyes when he looks at the new head of his company and his impatient, restless hands doing constant comfort gestures.

launcelot -> Lucas is the fly in the ointment (10/11/2012 10:08:00 AM)

Oh f**k, he really won't stop meddling. He can't be trusted with this. This is the man who created the prequels. Whatever it was he understood about powerful storytelling for the original trilogy he has lost along the way. Yet, he is still planning to be creative consultant. Body language in that interview suggests Kennedy actually has little say. I just pray I'm wrong and Lucas backs the hell off.

criffle -> Dare I dream (10/11/2012 10:46:18 AM)

that the tortured memory of the prequels and the "updated" versions of the originals, will be wiped away. Will Star Wars be awesome again, and be made by people who actually have talent and grew up with the series? Can I dream to love Star Wars again, like I did in my childhood?

madboynutter -> QUENTIN TARANTINO TO DIRECT STAR WARS??? (10/11/2012 11:40:50 AM)

That'd be interesting... Lol!

The haters that attacked Serenity for being better and better loved than the prequels would implode at that eventuality - hate/hate/not hate/hate/not hate aaaarrghhhhhhhhh!

nybras -> Dark Side (10/11/2012 4:28:44 PM)

it has to be dark, if they can shape it up to Empire Strikes Back for its dark side and excellent dialog/script the best of the 6 to date and of course New Hope.

Completely agree but i don't expect them to be anything better than Georges recent exploits which while had some potential were ruined by woeful dialogue and stupid idiotic characters.

Disney will follow suite and make a movie for children with loads of light felt entertainment for the masses.

The franchise has huge potential but if anyone is expecting something dark with strong dialogue then you're dreaming.

First and foremost the lead characters must be much stronger actors... and be given lines that don't sound like a 12 year old has written them and with George still being involved I fancy the trend to continue because he has no clue anymore.

I would love to see something original and believable created but it will just be another set of films that focuses on special effects rather than character development. There was a time GL thought Special effects were second to dialogue but that went out the window a long time ago.

I will hope for the best as always but don't expect much of this franchise unless we get a strong cast and a Director who is willing to stand up to the big wigs and not let them overrun his ideas to make it something more palletable to children and GL!

You're spot on man! The more Lucas is involved the worse these movies will be. He needs to leave it alone but he never will he thinks he's wonderful and in their lies the problem!

Sotto Voce -> RE: Lucas is the fly in the ointment (12/11/2012 7:20:19 AM)

If Lucas wanted to make these films himself, he could have just done it. Why go through some charade of hiring another writer, and then trying trying to force his will on them?
I'm willing to accept that Lucas is actually stepping away. Its fair enough him being a creative consultant. This is a real chance for Star Wars films at least better than the prequels.

Beno -> RE: Lucas is the fly in the ointment (12/11/2012 10:22:55 AM)

What if they give the Directors chair to M. Night Shyamalan and it turns out to be an epic opus of magnificence?

The main baddie turns out to have once been a goodie - and worse, he's the father of the main the main goodie.

*nods*

Why does it HAVE to be dark? Darker doesnt always mean better you know.Star Wars is sci-fi fantasy and adventure so it should be a lot of fun.Besides the last movie we got ( ROTS ) was great but as it was such a downer i think its time for the next film to be lighter.Not that it should be an outright comedy but a great light hearted adventure along the lines of ANH would do nicely now.

And im glad Lucas will still be involved as creative consultant,he DID create this unviverse.

Err it has to be both to be fare... after all it is called the Dark Side of the Force! Have you every seen the footage of Lucas Saying JarJar is key to the franchise while all other people involved feel other wise.. also with the hiring of the young Anni, everyone thought that the kid Lucas put in was the wrong choice as the other kids who auditioned were better at reading lines. Also that the Pod racing seen was meant to be a homage to the death start blowing up scene... you see the problem right... it's lucas... he may have created the universe but he also spoiled it as he's to close to it... after all isn't the best one by far The Empire Strikes Back.... why you ask... he didn't direct it... he created the ideas directs them and is to close to the script which has diabolical lines that sound like a kid jas written them... "Are you an Angel?" or "I'm in love with you... no I'm so in love with you" the list go's on. Lucas must not have the power in this franchise or we will have more Jar Jar characters to humor 5 year olds!
