Sotto Voce -> Remakes you want (5/11/2012 1:27:05 PM)

I thought there was already a similar thread, but couldn't find it.

I've suggested Plan 9 from Outer Space as good remake fodder. Another one I wouldn't mind is 1 Million Years BC. I'd change the title to 100 Million Years BC, because historical accuracy is paramount. How about Fantastic Voyage while we're in Racquel territory?

clownfoot -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 1:31:31 PM)

Krull. Do it!

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 1:34:19 PM)

I always thought it'll be common sense to go back on projects,in the past,that didn't work or live up to expectations ie Water-World.[sm=whistle.gif]

Somones going to mention prometheus

vad3r -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 1:39:40 PM)

Why would you remake Plan 9?

What are you going to do, make it as shit as the Ed Wood film?

Er, no, make it better.

OPEN YOUR EYES -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 1:58:30 PM)

Plan 9 is gloriously pants and it should be kept that way.

Yeah, but again, why bother?

Because the basic idea has potential, but it was executed poorly the first time around.
It could be done in a number of different ways, bit I'd like to see it done dead straight, not tongue-in-cheek.

Olaf -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 2:43:06 PM)

Wasn't there a 1 Million Years BC remake already? or did I imagine that?

matty_b -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 2:44:15 PM)

Emmerich made 100,000 BC, but I don't think it was a remake as such.

It wasn't very good as such, either. [&:]

As with most of Ed Woods films he generally thought at the time he was making fairly solid,straight films.
That is a sign that,unfortunately,he was a poor director but one who people view his films with charm and fondness,even though they were/are sh*t.[:D]

Yeah, I know he intended them as serious, bit I think if someone were to remake them, the inclination would be to poke fun at them. I just like the idea of taking outlandish B movie material and doing it dead serious. Probably won't be the smash hit of the year, I know.

Mister Coe -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 8:16:31 PM)

Highlander.

I know a lot of people love that movie but I caught it last time it was on TV and... wow. It's such a fucking brilliant concept but in the cold light of 2012, its many faults are glaringly apparant. I'm not gonna talk about the accents or the terrible SFX, it's just... it's an 80's MTV movie that should be a total epic.

I expect some brickbats for this one.

Hood_Man -> RE: Remakes you want (5/11/2012 8:30:28 PM)

Because I feel lazy:

Jumper. I'd love a sequel actually, something that really explores the possibilities of superhuman people who can travel almost anywhere they want in the blink of an eye. It would make for some incredible action scenes at the very least.

Nothing else really comes to mind right now. The best remakes IMHO are the remakes of below average/average/slightly above average films whose ideas could be explored further, or simply need to be made better than they were.

Which is why it's hard to think of any since it's the average films that are usually so forgettable [:)]

Sotto Voce -> RE: Remakes you want (6/11/2012 3:56:04 AM)

Remembered another one I was thinking of- They Live. The original was good, but didn't quite make the most of the concept, and is now fairly obscure. This time, perhaps don't cast a wrestler in the lead.[&:]

I could just never get my head around the Glaive-frisbee in Krull. Mind you, the Slayers were cool - and Tucker doesn't die.

But Hawk the Slayer is ripe for a remake - or a sequel as this site would have us believe: http://www.hawkthehunter.com/
