Cool Breeze -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 3:47:10 PM)

Bit early for this thread dont you think?

giggity -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 3:49:14 PM)

Now that Disney have bought Star Wars, I don't think they give a shit about Tron.

Shifty Bench -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 6:33:54 PM)

Is it 2014? Have I time-travelled without realising it again?

Rgirvan44 -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 6:43:05 PM)

Tron 3 - lol.

Hood_Man -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 6:47:10 PM)

My 2015 prediction is that someone else will start a thread towards the end of 2014, become a huge success, and this one will only be remembered when it's too late and not worth using.

MonsterCat -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (5/11/2012 7:15:57 PM)

Taken 3: Taking out the Garbage - 950/960

The Passion of the Christ 2: Jesus Takes Manhattan - 200/800

Star Wars Episode 7: Time Travelling Darth Vader - A Billion / All the money in the world ever.

Harry Potter: What? Did you honestly think we wouldn't reboot this shit? - A Trillion / A Gazillion

Pirates of the Carribean: Jack Sparrow and the Retirement Home of Doom - A cent / 50p

Rgirvan44 -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (6/11/2012 8:54:46 PM)

I still love that in a year with the Avengers and a new Star Wars, Disney would give a crap about making Tron 3. I hope it happens!

It's ok, in 2015 we get hoverboards, expandable microwave pizzas, and self drying jackets [:)]

and BTTF IV?....perhaps! (added to the OP)

UTB -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (6/11/2012 9:35:33 PM)

We really should have a 'Critical estimates' thread too.

jackcarter -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (13/6/2013 11:24:39 PM)

T5 is probably happening for 2015 (id imagine a March or April release if it wants some box office). just need news on Prometheus2 (or BR2), BTTF4 and Tron3 now (can probably scrub JLA out until at least 2016 though)

MonsterCat -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (13/6/2013 11:53:52 PM)

There's going to be a Back to the Future 4? I'm assuming that's what BTTF IV is.

In this one does Michael J Fox go back in time to stop Christopher Lloyd making Piranha?

Mister Coe -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (14/6/2013 12:40:19 AM)

Pick your favourite box-office hit made between 1990 and 2000 and it will doubtlessly be remade...

And it will be shit.

Nope- click

jackcarter -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (14/6/2013 9:04:34 AM)

there will be an announcement of a BTTF IV soon im certain - 2015 is too tempting a release date[:D]

Zemeckis and Gale saying no to a fourth one doesn't mean fuck all, though. Really the property belongs to Universal and they'll do whatever they want with it.

Not that it matters anyway.

jackcarter -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (4/1/2015 4:38:25 PM)

well that came around fast. updated OP with new list (funny looking at what thought would be out this year back in 2012 - e.g. BTTF4, Tron3)

DONOVAN KURTWOOD -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (4/1/2015 5:17:17 PM)

My main hope for this year is that Mad Max Fury Road is a big hit at the box office. I really want this to hit big and blow everyone away so we can have some more Mad Max movies. I also hope it's really, really good.

jackcarter -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (4/1/2015 6:21:57 PM)

MM4 is similar to Prometheus in a way (original director returns after 30 years to influential SF series he started with new cast and C Theron - uncertain how connected to originals it will be) so maybe do similar BO.
Rating? - could be PG13/12A (Thunderdome was PG13) but might get R/15 as like Prometheus the whole reason its being made is down to the original guy doing it so whatever he decides (unlike T5 which will be PG13/12A)

Nope. haha.

I'll post a list as well when I have the time.

True, i sincerely hope it's better in quality than Prometheus though, which is a movie i loved but was also terrible [:D]. I'm expecting PG13 rating as the budget is quite big.

jackcarter -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (8/1/2015 1:58:23 PM)

have read that there might be 2 versions (R and PG13) being viewed for preview audiences. If so hopefully the studio will go with R (like Prometheus)

spark1 -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (9/1/2015 1:27:50 PM)

'fury rd' will do fine, its 'jupiter acscending' that may crash/burn.

Chris Boomen -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (9/1/2015 4:25:29 PM)

I'm thinking Jupiter Ascending will be a bomb on the level of Cloud Atlas or the Lone Ranger.

yes

where is Enter The Knight gonna fit?

spark1 -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (10/1/2015 10:34:47 AM)

can '50 shades' make sex on screen sexy again at box office?

only gross out sex scenes in comedies make money these days.

Chris Boomen -> RE: 2015 Box Office estimates :) (10/1/2015 12:56:50 PM)

I included everything that I think will open above 50m or end above 150m. Marked my picks for a billion.

Name - OW - DOM - WW
American Sniper - 51m - 170 - 250
Fifty Shades of Grey - 64 - 140 - 300
Cinderella - 73 - 230 - 630
Divergent - 55 - 150 - 340
Furious 7 - 89 - 230 - 860
AvengerS: AoU - 203 - 600 - 1800
Tomorrowland* - 55 - 170 - 610
Jurassic World - 87 - 220 - 730
Inside Out - 67 - 260 - 620
Ted 2 - 75 - 200 - 630
Minions - 80 - 320 - 800
Ant-Man - 77 - 210 - 630
Fantastic Four - 50 - 150 - 480
Maze Runner 2 - 46 - 150 - 450
The Jungle Book - 52 - 170 - 520
Spectre - 98 - 340 - 1300
Mockingjay2 - 145 - 380 - 980
The Good Dinosaur - 67 - 300 - 620
Star Wars 7 - 102 - 530 - 1300
Mission Impossible 5 - 40 - 200 - 630

I am still expecting Tomorrowland to change its release date.

Honorable mentions:
Pitch Perfect2 - this could surprise, but 50m still seems too much
Mad Max - Could be the Edge of Tomorrow of 2015
Insidious - could make it if franchise fatique doesn't kick in
Entourage - I don't know how popular exacty this movie is in the US
Magic Mike XXL - the same as pitch perfect 2
Terminator: Genisys - It's probably all going downwards
Pan - If disney had made it, it would have been on my list
Spielberg's cold war thriller - No, details, no predictions
Chipmunks 4 - franchise fatique

This is of course outside of awards contenders, who have given little details yet. A year ago, I thougt the Judge could win an oscar.

Enter the Knight is probably a hoax. If that movie is not well-received, dawn of justice is completely screwed. WB is not that dumb.
