Sinatra -> SD Cards (1/11/2012 4:05:52 PM) Just a quick question... what is the best SD Card to buy for a camera? I have heard that if you buy a decent one it increases the speed the picture gets written from the camera.

sanchia -> RE: SD Cards (1/11/2012 5:56:56 PM) The High capacity SDHC are best if your camera is compatible (most are now). If you plan on using it for HD video you want a class 10 or better as this is the write speed with 2 being at the lower end and going up from there. If you are taking pictures you will not need a 80Mb write speed so a class 6 or so will be sufficient for burst photography and so on. Generic brands are not as good as named brand such as Kingston and Samsung and tend not to last as long. At the end of the day you are limited by the camera write speed as well and getting the best SD card will not improve the write speed if the camera cannot cope.

gingerdaniel -> RE: SD Cards (1/11/2012 8:29:44 PM) Strictly speaking. If the sd card is class 6, it should be the same speed whoever makes it. However I've got some cheaper compact flash cards and they get a bit slow to write when they're getting full. Have to wait while the camera writes to the card. Like sanchia says, no point getting a card that's faster than your camera. Find out what class cards your camera wants and then you won't be paying over the odds. What camera is it?
