claudemg -> Another 'out there' idea (10/10/2012 4:20:46 PM)

I always loved the idea of having dinos on the mainland - but why not go for an extended time-shift to, say, 200 years in the future where man and dino co-exist? And no, I certainly don't mean ala Terranova. brrrrrrrrrr

messiah1967 -> A different movie perhaps...? (10/10/2012 4:30:13 PM)

Not sure if this fits in the 'Spielbergverse' and I can see why it got nixed, but the idea (and the concept art) would still make a cracking movie, lets face it, with the plethora of remakes being churned out it couldn't be any worse!

Thomcaptcha -> (10/10/2012 5:10:20 PM)

I've always thought do it as a prequel, go back to a young John Hammond setting up the Island. See all the errors he made first of all before we see the final park.

Jonda Fett -> not jurassic park (10/10/2012 5:59:35 PM)

Whilst the artwork looks interesting it just seems too distant from jurassic park...

marcus_fuller -> More Turok than JP (10/10/2012 6:11:39 PM)

Michael Crichton must be rolling in his grave...

love that Idea!!!!

clarkkent -> (10/10/2012 6:44:31 PM)

On the one hand this is awesome. On the other hand, it sucks. Not because the idea is bad, just because i had the same idea before this was ever talked about.

But that means tragically horrific genetic freak failed experienents an no running amok, doesn't it? Why not prequelise it even further back, and even though it's historically wrong, have a small band of people trying to survive in a world where dinosaurs already exist, after their tribe, searching for somewhere to settle happens on a dinosaur infested pocket of a country, beyond some mountains, that, and the absence of food sources explaining the (relative) absence of the creatures in the place they left.

The tribe could speak English, to make it simple for storytelling, and the 'gambit' for how people react to dinosaurs is not 'ooh, I love dinosaurs...oh shit, I'm lunch!!' but some wonder, then terror, on the faces of people who have no frame of reference for what they are seeing at all.

Job done ;-)

Human/dinosaur hybrids are bullshit, they were bullshit in the game Turok: Evolution and seeing them in a film, even if done well, would mean (for me at least) an idea I've already felt to be bullshit for years, so wouldn't really bother.

circuit -> Humanoid dinosaurs - not for me (10/10/2012 7:02:31 PM)

Personally I don't think that human/dinosaur hybrids are much in the vein of Jurassic Park and I'm glad to read that the idea was abandoned. On another note, for anyone who has read Jutin Cronin's 'The Passage,' the top left picture is almost how I imagine the virals to look, anyone else?

whitelighter -> Another, another "out there" idea (10/10/2012 7:11:26 PM)

Well the artwork is awesome but I'll just echo what others are saying that this is so far from the other 3 movies. human/dino hybrid is just as bad as greedo shooting first! My idea would be, have a planet of the apes style where dinos take over the world & keep humans as slaves :P

Snake 4Skin -> YES more DINO movies pleeez! (10/10/2012 8:06:24 PM)

Great idea for another dino movie and why not. Why are the only dino movies in the last decade Jurassic Parks? It's practically a sub genre. So let's see more. Regarding JP4,wud luv to see it as a metaphor for the exotic pet trade.Starts in a South American thrift store with a backpacker buying a little compy and expand from there....u readin this Ricky and Mandy!

thepluginbaby -> (10/10/2012 8:22:17 PM)

Can't get over how creepy those designs look. They should definitely be used in another movie, just not Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park is about dinosaurs. That said, it may have been a smart evolution of the themes of the first movie.

Cat_Corportation -> Not Jurassic Park but (10/10/2012 9:11:54 PM)

Bloody terrifying! I'm going to have nightmares now.

a_man_and_his_monkey -> Love these designs.... (10/10/2012 9:14:59 PM)

...just not for Jurassic Park.

angelofmusic93 -> Joe Johnson is DEAD!!!! (10/10/2012 10:47:57 PM)

if joe goes for that story with the STUPID human/dinosaur hybrid plot, he will forever be dead to me!!!!!!!!! Thats just NOT Jurassic Park!!!!! If he wants to make some retarded movie about that crappy story line, then he can make his OWN movie trilogy!!!! Leave Speilberg's Jurassic Park alone!!!!!!! As Ian Malcom once said, "... I call it rape of the natural world." Its time to blow the rape whistle on joe johnson, and get his dirty, corrupting hands off of jurassic park 4.

muchobenny -> RE: Joe Johnson is DEAD!!!! (10/10/2012 11:16:30 PM)

Read the article again, properly this time. These images are for a concept that has been shelved.

Fallen Giant -> Jurassic Park Lost War (10/10/2012 11:17:11 PM)

I think it's a brilliant idea!! So much better than the other Jurassic Park movies. I didn't like 2 or 3. Granted it doesn't really belong in the JP canon but with a little story tweaking I think they could bring this out as a stand alone film or franchise starter. I'd pay $20 a ticket to see these creatures battling dinosaurs in glorious IMAX. Just don't get Joe Johnson to direct. He's not a bad director but this isn't his kind of gig. You need Matt Reeves or Guillermo Del Toro or Garith Edwards (think that's his name -directed Monsters). But I soooo want this to happen. I'd fund it myself had I $200,000,000.

jazzyjules63 -> Just awful (10/10/2012 11:39:17 PM)

I cannot understand anyone who thinks this is a great idea. This is just awful and would have been the ruination of the franchise. It's the sort of idea that a teenage boy or a toy marketeer might come up with. It reeks of Alien Resurrection. Dynomen with guns? Sheesh people, grow some tastebuds. Thank heavens Spielberg still has some say. I can see him with his fingers on his chins saying, "hmmm that's not quite what we're after."

rich -> RE: It's shelved (11/10/2012 12:10:03 AM)

Seriously this is old concept art from an idea which will never see the light of day, what's the problem.

RedAngel989 -> NO! (11/10/2012 12:11:58 AM)

No,nononononononono..............NO! final say. How could they do that? Messing up franchise aside, its just wrong in so many ways. i know that the first three films were a bit repetitive - people go to island, some get eaten alive, survivors go home. But they don't need to splice homo/dino - please think of something else. :(

Whistler -> (11/10/2012 1:03:13 AM)

I'd say it wouldn't have been Jurassic Park, but I think that's already been covered...

jamesjewell1983 -> ha ha (11/10/2012 2:11:09 AM)

Laughable
so far removed from original chrichton/spielberg story.
somebody mentioned Alien: Resurrection. this is it.

NeoBrowser -> RE: ha ha (11/10/2012 5:12:41 AM)

dammit! I was so hoping they would NOT go this direction.

mclane1 -> its resident evil (11/10/2012 7:54:00 AM)

oh god itS resident evil 6- STICK WITH JUST DINOSAURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Jurassic Park IV would be his gig he would not show the dinosaurs till the last 10 mins of the film.

Ghidorah -> RE: Jurassic Park Lost War (11/10/2012 3:12:26 PM)

Making a dinosaur movie is very restrictive because you need to explain how mankind and dinosaurs end up being together. The other problem are dinsoaurs lived for at least 50 millions years and lived on all the continents. Their species varied so much when comparing to what continent they were on and what dinosaur era it was. For example you wouldn't find a stegosaurus together with a T Rex because the stegosaurus live in the Jurassic era and in Africa? The T rex on the other hand live in the Cretaceous period and in North America.
Michael Crichton had an excellent idea how to bring people into the center of a dinosaur story and have different dinosaurs from different ages all in one place. I honestly think Jurassic Park needs a reboot either in film or TV series.

Fluke Skywalker -> RE: Jurassic Park Lost War (11/10/2012 5:17:22 PM)

Some of this artwork is fucked up! It's gonna be a horror movie [&:]
