porntrooper -> Die Hard 5 (3/10/2012 5:01:07 PM)

OK, I cant find the Future FIlms thread for it. Mods, if there is one out there, feel free to close this and bump that.

Anyway, rumours abound that the trailer for the new Die Hard flick will debut this weekend with Taken 2. As a fan of all four previous movies, I'm still holding out hope that this could be good. I doubt it will be cos John Moore is fucking useless.

Die Hard 4 wasn't too bad. It had a bunch of flaws and was too big in scope, but there were occasions that Willis managed to bring back some of the old McClane magic. I can see this one following the same pattern, the plot is too big i.e. Terrorists taking over the world, rather than a small, more isolated location. A smaller location and smaller scope would be far more preferable to try to bring it back to the 'wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time' vibe of the original (and to a degree the sequel). Trying to top the scope of Die Hard 3 just doesnt seem to work at all. Still, I'll give it a chance in the hope it can be a decent action flick.

They need to tone down on the whole 'McClane is invincible' shit and make him more human like he originally was. And yes, having a smaller isolated event would have been better. Hell, even a small town trapped by snow would have done. It's been done before, a lot, but it would have been McClane back to basics and actually fighting to survive rather than him taking on a fighter jet in a truck because it looks cool.

I still want to see Die Hard 5 but I'm not holding out much hope that it'll be any good.

They should do a prequel starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I actually liked 4.0 but am not holding out hope for this.
