Brundlesflies -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (26/10/2012 2:04:38 PM)

I think the grimness of this entire episode can be summed up by the fact that Jim Davidson is claiming the moral high ground

According to Davidson, one of the celebrities about to be arrested is 'a loner who dresses and acts like a nonce and thinks he's the most important person in the world'.

Isn't that what Davidson said/wrote about Savile? But yeah - my head is spinning with all sorts of possibilities. It's either going to be a case of "I always thought they were dodgy", or a complete rug-from-under-you surprise.

No, it was refereing to one of the household names set to be arrested in the next few days, though you're right - it could easily be a description of Savile.
Putting aside the potentially libellous game of Guess Who I appear to have kicked off with that Davidson quote (woops), I'm glad there's at least a small crumb of comfort (ie convictions) on the horizon for the victims.

Titanm21 -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (26/10/2012 2:36:37 PM)

Do we know a time scale of when these arrests will happen?

elab49 -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (26/10/2012 2:38:56 PM)

Oddly enough the police didn't feel the need to tell the Daily Mail that [:D]

[:D] I knew that would be the response I'd get. Its a daft question [:(]

Reading Davidson's blog (yes, I feel dirty) it would appear that the 'loner who dresses and acts like a nonce and thinks he's the most important person in the world' quote is in fact a reference to Savile rather than the next potential suspect

That's ruled out Boris Johnson then.

Ah yes, just had a look and you and badir are right. I hadn't read the full blog before, just some quotes from it on unrealitytv.com which presented them out of context as if he were talking about someone else. Naughty. Still, on the plus-side I've now been introduced to Jim Davidson's blog and I just know I'm gonna be helplessly compelled to read it every day. Forever.
Another life ruined by Savile...[;)]

I think that'd been on the cards for a while. I'm more intrigued by who might be next.

Shall we have a who-is-going-to-be-outed-as-a-nonce-pool?

(I think i can reliably say this chap has not been named).

I think the problem is at the moment that people are being named because a lot of people think they are dicks rather than because there is any reliable evidence against them to justify them as possible perpetrators.

jonson -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (29/10/2012 8:17:12 AM)

We were playiong "Out the Nonce" in the pub on Saturday. Just coming up with random 80's TV people and taking a vote on whether we thought they were a kiddie-fiddler or Savile Sympathiser.
It was quite incredible how many we "outed". It was rife. Or at least it was suggested it was in the pub on Saturday.
I could list all of the "definates" right now, and the "maybes" and I think you'd all agree.
Thankfully we found Bob Holness completely innocent as some of our group were gettting quite offended by the suggestion. Fucking students.

James2183 -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (29/10/2012 8:25:29 AM)

Would students even remember who Bob Holness was? [:D]

jonson -> RE: Allegations of Jimmy Saville (29/10/2012 8:33:13 AM)

True, however the people who I was with were students in the 80's. (the 1980's thanks [:D])
They still only buy 1 round to my 2, so they're still sponging in a roundabout kind of way. Bastards.
