What was your first film at the cinema? And what film changed you? Jaws was my first film. And my epiphany. I was five. And I was, er, hooked. It's an impressionable age. I still wonder if I'd been taken to a football match that weekend instead, would I have been a jock instead of a film geek?

(Then a couple of years later it was Star Wars and my fate was sealed...)

The Aristocats, I was around 3 or 4 years old. It was back when Disney used to periodically re-issue the "classics", in the years before sell-thru VHS was a thing. I remember seeing The Jungle Book around the same time too (maybe the year after). I saw some really weird things as a kid. I remember seeing Back To The Future Part 2 at the cinema, at around 7 years old and having not seen the first one. Likewise with Ghostbusters 2. And Indy 3.

The Jungle Book. Either it was a Disney re-release or the army organised it for us "Army Brats" as a Saturday club thing [sm=33.gif]

Not that the detail matters, I just thought it might make this a slightly more interesting post.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

I didn't make it through,which I'm still disappointed with myself today.
It was my birthday day-out if I remember correctly and my parents took me to the local ODEON.
My excuse for leaving an hour-in was because it was to loud.

God,I was such a little asshole..not much has changed

It was my little brothers as well. Never had much respect for Chilli Peppers when I heard that song at the start. The girl they meet later on was alright through....

I think my next trip to the Cinema was either Space Jam or Jurassic Park.
Glad to say I went through the whole two films with no worries,and most likely glad for my parents.

I think you just started later than me. I too saw Turtles 2 (and 1), but 1988/1989 seems to be when I was first taken really often, which was a great time for family friendly stuff like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, BTTF2 etc.

But fret not, I later saw such classics as Suburban Commando (I even had this poster on my wall as a boy - CLICK), and my first trip to the cinema without my folks was for Street Fighter - The Movie a couple of years later.

E.T. I would have been 4 going on 5. All I remember is the crying.

The first film I can actually remember watching was Return of the Jedi a few months later.

I remember I was once faced with the choice of either Batman and Robin or the Fifth Element. As a kid I didn't pay attention to reviews...but I still went to Element. I like to pat myself on the back about that one.

I saw a lot of films at a stupid age.

A Nightmare on Elm Street / Full Metal Jacket / Predator / Pet Sematary / Salem’s Lot aged 6/7 (Babysitter’s Choice)
Aliens aged 7 (During a Mess Party with my brother and his friends who were 10/11.)

Yet out of all of those I was only ever truly afraid of ET, little fucker traumatised me.
