Your Funny Uncle -> S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 6:25:01 AM)

Could be very interesting! [:)]

Chief -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 9:57:43 AM)

It could be but, would Samuel L sign up for a TV series?

I'd hope so as it'd be a bit pointless without him.

jcthefirst -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 1:41:19 PM)

NATHAN FILLION FOR ALL THE PARTS!!!!!!!!!!

etc.

fuzzy -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 2:13:34 PM)

This would be perfect for Whedon. Ensemble cast, tongue in cheek, lots of fight scenes... can't wait personally. And the added bonus of it belonging to the films, perhaps running alongside them. A few big screen characters could have cameos, but as long as the cast is good and the writings solid (expecting nothing less from the ginger guy), I don't think it particularly needs them (including Mr. Jackson) - just mention them from time to time to keep continuity.

I'm quite entrigued about who possible villains would be, and whether they'd introduce other Marvel characters with the view to feature them in the films. I just hope they don't drop the ball with this... it has the potential to be fanboy gold.

Whedon won't go anywhere near this.

I don't understand the question.

Why wouldn't he go anywhere near it? It makes sense that he'd have at least some involvement.

As a Whedonite, I've watched all three of his hour long fan conventions this year, every video interview and more. I know his future projects and what he's interested in doing next. Whedon doesn't get involved in anything unless he creates, produces and writes it himself.

He created the film out of nowhere from the source material.

So what's to stop him creating a premise for a tv show from the same source material?

He wrote, produced and directed Avengers. Whedon wants to be involved in everything he creates. If he creates a premise for a TV show, he most certainly will stay on as show runner, writer, director etc. Which will takeover his time to do the projects The Avengers has leveraged/helped him to do.
He'll do Avengers 2 and be done with Marvel (hopefully).

vad3r -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 3:53:36 PM)

Similar to how he created, produced and wrote Cabin in the Woods and let one of his Whedonverse buddies direct it.

He's co-writing with his brother and sis-in-law and will also be producing. Rumours are that he'll be at least directing the pilot ep. Disney will insist his name is all over this as part of his ongoing movie and tv deal with Marvel Studios. He's basically in charge of at least over-seeing phase 2 of Marvel Studios output up to and including Avengers 2.

He's quoted as saying the series will be autonomous to the Avengers sequel he's writing. Hopefully that doesn't mean it will go against continuity with the films - that will just be messy IMO.

That he has a deal with Marvel? You know he does, you moaned about it when the news broke. He has signed to do film and tv projects with Marvel to expand the universe and this will be one of those things.

News of the original three year deal Whedon has signed with Marvel which includes a TV show- http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Joss-Whedon-Signs-Three-Year-Deal-With-Marvel-Studios-32359.html

Shifty Bench -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 4:50:17 PM)

He did. I remember him saying all this 'Joss wouldn't do something he didn't create' stuff when the news broke of Whedon's deal. I had the same discussion with him then about it.

Despite the fact that Joss started writing for shows he didn't create.....

Naughty Vad3r.

By the way, does anyone know whatever happened to the proposed Hulk tv series that Guillermo del Toro was developing?

Last I heard, it is still in development but won't be on screens till next year. No new news has been released for a couple of months.

Joss has never wrote an episode for a TV show he hasn't created since he wrote Toy Story.

Really hoping that's been binned. After all the work Marvel are doing combining their films and characters into one universe, a Hulk series now after the Avengers with a possibly different banner and story would seem a strange idea. I've got nowt against a Hulk series in theory, just not at the moment. Continuity is all I ask Marvel - don't do a Fox on us.

Maybe not but he did direct an episode of Glee and a couple of episodes of the US version of The Office. Not excatly sure what your point is anyway.

My point is that he hasn't wrote an episode for a TV show he hasn't created since he wrote Toy Story. Shifty said he did, my response was he didn't.

No he said that Whedon started out writing for shows he didn't create. He didn't say he was now doing so but that's bye the bye. Your assertion that Whedon doesn't work on anything he didn't create is patently false.

Especially as I don't think Joss Whedon created Roseanne:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0688756/

................. never before did I think I'd play the Roseanne card in a thread about the Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D. [:D]

No I did not, my friend. I said he started out writing for other people's shows like Roseanne and Parenthood so it is not out of the ordinary for him. I never mentioned Toy Story or that he wrote for someone else's show since that film, that was you not reading my post properly.

He also writes comic books created by other people but that's not the same thing, is it?

Zaphod121 -> RE: S.H.I.E.L.D TV Series (29/8/2012 7:14:00 PM)

Hopefully Joss will oversee the show somewhat kind of like Buffy season 9 comcis, but someone else will have more day to day duties. He did write arcs on Runaways and X-Men btw.
