Real lost to Atletico and twice to Barca which suggests both of them deserve the championship more. Isn't that how your logic works?

I was responding to the comment that because Atletico won Chelsea 3-1 it deserves to go to the Champions League final...

Bizarre comment.

Whoever's top of the table at the end of the season will deserve it. Even if it's the often misfiring Barcelona.

I have a feeling Real Madrid will end up profiting over that Barca Atletico clash & nip ahead of both of them in the end.
If Barca realize that Real might win the title they will roll over and give the match to Atletico. That's how bitter they are...

Well, they do deserve to be in the final because that result put them there.

Lord Varys -> RE: European football (6/5/2014 9:55:18 AM)

Am I the only person here that does not like Diego Simeone? That guy is from Diego Marandona school of lie, cheat and steal in order to get a result. It's football justice for him
not to win anything this season...

Atletico are the only unbeaten side in the Champions League this season. I'd say that gives them more reason to be in the final than anyone.

He's awesome. No angel as a player but has shown nothing but respect as a manager and he's doing an amazing job at Atletico.

Yeah, but still just to remember the 1998 World Cup makes you dislike the guy...

Can only speak for myself, but just to remember the 1998 World Cup makes me remember what a petulant idiot Beckham could be at the time.

Not really. Beckham shouldn't have reacted to him or at least hit him hard enough so Simeone didn't have to fake injury.

True. Or they could just have call Vinnie Jones to play for that match so the entire Argentina team will get injured...

Best school I ever went to.
Fun times.

Anyway, what's all this malarkey about City getting fined by UEFA?

They broke the financial fair play rules or something. City and Pari I think...

So UEFA are going to fine them [:D] Honest, this is not just a way for UEFA to get more money.

Apparently they are going to also reduce the squad size (25 to 21) they can have in the CL. As they will still need 8 home grown players, this is about the best news that Hart, Richards and that lad they bought from Everton a couple of seasons ago but has been completely forgotten, have ever had.

EDIT: I also love how the media's speculation on what City will do to bring their costs under control. Spend about 150M on Messi. [sm=happy07.gif]

Real drop 2 points tonight. Their championship dreams are over. It's Atletico or Barca now...

For the first(and last) time in my life I would support Barca. It will be funny to see Simeone losing 2 titles in a week...

shool -> RE: European football (9/5/2014 3:22:16 PM)

Come on Barca!!

I hope they fight back and get it, even though unlikely. They've had a poor season and I wouldnt be surprised to see Martino go, but I'd love them to clinch this at the end. [:)]

Lord Varys -> RE: European football (9/5/2014 3:29:13 PM)

If the championship is to be decided in the Barcelona-Atletico match anyone here believes that Atletico could face Barcelona in Sunday and then have the stamina to face Real 6 nights later?

Lord Varys -> RE: European football (11/5/2014 9:59:59 PM)

Well Barca-Atletico next Sunday. The tile match. It should be interesting...

Lord Varys -> RE: European football (17/5/2014 1:19:56 PM)

I predict a 2-0 victory for Barca.And a 4-1 victory for Real next week...

Professor Moriarty -> RE: European football (17/5/2014 5:38:51 PM)

1-0 Barca

Scott_ -> RE: European football (17/5/2014 6:53:24 PM)

Atletico are really fighting for this, they are so close.

Fucking yes!

Qwerty Norris -> RE: European football (19/5/2014 7:52:57 PM)

Even though I would consider myself a casual Barca supporter, I'm chuffed to bits for the folks of Atletico. Their application all season has been utterly immense & in an era when money dictates everything in football, their achievements are practically miraculous. I really hope they carry that momentum into Saturday evening & stuff their neighbours. That would be a glorious sight.

Ta ta to Tata. Hopefully Enrique can restore the fluidity that was desperately lacking over the season.

As for Bayern & Hamburg? Lucky bastards the both of them.

matty_b -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 8:45:16 PM)

Atletico fully deserving this so far. Really impressed with their tactics and organisation. Real look like they're going to fluff their lines and the occasion is getting to them.

Dirk Miggler -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 9:13:28 PM)

Atletico's work rate is unreal, could they tire ?

Scott_ -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 9:37:42 PM)

Sergio fucking Ramos. That handsome bastard. You knew that was coming...

matty_b -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 9:39:44 PM)

Oof, heartbreaker. Real deserved an equaliser, though. And the game's been quality, so I won't complain about another 30 minutes.

Scott_ -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 10:09:12 PM)

Not good.

Great work from Di Maria though.

Professor Moriarty -> RE: European football (24/5/2014 10:11:31 PM)

Chuffed for the lad Bale.
