villafanephoto -> My 5 min short is a finalist at The Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards- tell me what you think and vote (10/8/2012 4:24:32 PM)

I'm putting out here to everyone that I have a 5min short film that is a finalist for the top prize at this year's Louis Vuitton Journeys Awards. I would love for people to watch it, vote for it, and tell me what they think.

Here's the link:

I'm currently transitioning from photography. I'm not really sure how I'm going to make this transition, as I am a relative outsider to the film industry. I'm just doing what I love, and what I should have always done. It just took me 15 years to realize that. I'm just putting my work out there, and hoping that my talent and passion will pull me through and attract some attention. Making the finals of the contest is a step in the right direction. The future just still seems so far away.

I have a great deal of technical skill from photography, but great filmmaking isn't really about that. Anybody can learn to technically execute tasks. It's in the emotion of the storytelling that great films are made.

So I pose the question to everyone, do you think I have that?

I open the question to everyone here at the forum. Take a look at the film and tell me what you think. If you like it, vote for it. And please send it on to others. The more people that see it, the better.

Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Alexander Villafañe

P.S.
As a side note, the video quality of the upload that Louis Vuitton made for their website is pretty poor. Many of the films in the contest seem to suffer, and ours was no exception. The film looks very pixilated, and the brightness is way down.

Therefore, If you would like to see the film as it was intended, I have uploaded a much higher quality version on my Vimeo account here:

https://vimeo.com/45362718

The film is identical to the one submitted to the contest, including picture size and run time. It’s just a much higher quality image.

So, If you would like to see the film as it was intended, please view it at my Vimeo page, but you MUST vote for the film, if it is to count for the contest, at the Louis Vuitton Journeys website (http://www.journeysawards.com/en_US/shortlisted/Zero/)
