You also have the Harlequin Shrimp, very popular in aquariums and less like to break your finger with a punch

Small, pretty and without fear! If you are bitten by one you will begin to feel numbness, cramps and pain virtually straight away. Within in a few minutes you will be conscious but completely paralysed. I think you can buy them for home aquariums - not sure I would [sm=huh.gif]

What about those fellating bats? That's pretty cool.

sharkboy -> RE: Cool nature, you might not know about... (30/8/2012 11:31:03 AM)

There was also an X-Files episode featuring alien spores that caused large penis-shaped fungi to explode from the victim's throat:
(Note to self - be careful what terms I enter into Google to search for this pic in future - most returns definitely NSFW!)

One of the fancier members of a very jazzy bunch of sea creatures. Search google images for "nudibranch".

This one featured on an episode of Octonauts on CBeebies the other week. His name was Boo, and he helped Peso guide his kaput submarine back up through the jagged rocks. Peso was terrified of him at first, cos he kept saying "boo" when Peso asked what his name was. But in the end they sorted the confusion out and everyone was friends.

You lie!!  They were both created about 6000 years ago by the almighty - the first one hid in caves to hide from the dinosau...sorry, just slipped into creationist mode there. [sm=08.gif]

Not to push this thread too much [sm=schild15.gif], but it amazes me sometimes how creationists can see this and not think that maybe Darwin had a point [:)]  And just to get it firmly back on topic, I introduce the Yeti Crab, discovered in 2005:
