rawlinson -> 50s Poll (19/7/2012 9:57:02 PM)

As the 70s list is drawing to a close, time to kick off the next decade. List size as usual, lists sent to empire50slist@hotmail.com
No deadline as yet.

matty_b -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 10:06:38 PM)

Mine shall be mostly Hitchcock, Hammer and Wilder films.

Biggus -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 10:08:13 PM)

And a sprinkling of Kazan hopefully.

Kurosawa, bitch.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 10:23:02 PM)

Mine will be mainly British and Japanese and noir.

Although I'll probably be crap and flake out 2 days before the deadline, start pleading for more time and spreading tales of my list uselessness.

Again.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 10:23:29 PM)

Also, I predict no film in Gimli's list will be longer than 8 minutes.

Does 1 count as a sprinkling?

Rebenectomy -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 10:28:43 PM)

I'm in. No idea what it'll be comprised of.

Harry Tuttle -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 11:27:00 PM)

Like Flint, I'm in.

Toast -> RE: 50s Poll (19/7/2012 11:54:37 PM)

I'll attempt one.

*tsk* wrong decade [:D]

I was about to ask "How many Tom and Jerry cartoons do you think it's feasible to include?" [:D]

chris_scott01 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 4:10:27 PM)

I can't pass a decade like this, if only to cheer on the Japanese contribution.

100 OK?

Ultimo Lee -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 5:33:51 PM)

Since i've missed the 70's i'll try and send a list for this. It'll probably have to be a top 50, just checked by listology account and i've only seen 120 from the 50's.

Sure. I'm not sure if this one is being extended as far as the 150, but 100 is fine.

What! What!

rawlinson -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 8:44:54 PM)

It just hasn't been discussed as yet, so I wouldn't want to jump the gun on it. I'm fine with it being 150 if TRM is.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 8:50:38 PM)

I've not started 1951 and I've got 37 [&:]

Pleeeeease TRM [sm=51.gif]

Yeah its fine [:D]

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 9:36:50 PM)

2 queries then

Samurai I - III - 1 entry or 3?

Apu trilogy - 1 or 3?

I'm happy with Wajda's war being separate.

Also, no problem with an Alastair Sim top 10, no?

Rhubarb -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 9:51:52 PM)

Good excuse to pick up a bunch of Toho monster movies on ebay.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 9:53:00 PM)

The BFi Mysterians used to be quite cheap.

Rhubarb -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 10:06:37 PM)

8.99 on Amazon used and new. Is it worth it? I like the other Honda films I've seen, but not seen that one.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 10:10:58 PM)

It's not my favourite but I did enjoy it. I got it under a fiver new though, but that was a while back.

If we're counting things as one does The Human Condition count as a 50s entry since the first part was 59? [:D]

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 10:32:55 PM)

I've excluded it from my longlist as the work wasn't complete in the 50s. I think of that as one piece too.

rawlinson -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 10:55:34 PM)

I think the votes might have to be two parts of Human Condition for the 50s with the last for the 60s. That's how we worked it for Histoire (s) du Cinema on the 80s list, so it's probably going to be the same here. I don't know if TRM feels strongly in the other direction, but that was the way we started things.

Let's call it a grain.

elab49 -> RE: 50s Poll (20/7/2012 11:26:31 PM)

I have a grain of Kazan [:)]

I have no strong feelings one way or the other
