elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 10:39:20 PM)

I'm really sorry but it actually is. I don't remember it from last time at all. I seem to be completely blanking out the countdown. [&:]

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 10:42:06 PM)

Last time it was just films. [;)] I brought up the idea of expanding the boundaries of the list a little while back in the thread.

quote:

What I would like to do with the list is make it even more interesting by keeping those real borderline cases, but expanding the boundaries of the list by allowing people to vote for up to 250 choices, but making it a full horror list. Not just voting for films and select t.v. episodes, but including novels, short stories, plays, radio plays, etc. I'd even include board games and computer games, and make it a list about horror culture. But I don't know if there'd be enough interest in doing that.

and the general feeling seemed to be postive. [:)]

Last thing I remember was breaking the news to Gimli about The Muppets. [:D]

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 10:48:28 PM)

They're back in. A showdown over Treehouse of Horror swung it.

elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 10:55:56 PM)

I am becoming embarrassingly inept at this thread reading lark I fear.

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 10:57:27 PM)

Here's the basics

quote:

1. Lists can be anywhere between 25 and 250 choices.

2. You can include films, television series, music videos, adverts, novels, novellas, short stories, short story collections, plays, poems, radio plays, audiobooks, board games, video games. The only thing I ask is that you make clear what it is you're voting for. For example, Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu has been a short story, a video game, a rpg, more than one radio play and a film. Let me know what you're actually voting for. If there's anything you want to vote for that I've overlooked, mention it on thread and I'll let you know.

3. All the borderline stuff like Muppets/Simpsons, etc are fine.

Same deadline, end of September, and you can edit your lists up to a certain point. Sometime in September I'll say no changes to any lists already in and get those counted, but new lists will still be ok up until the end of month.

The only thing changed since is I added the urban legends thing after they were asked about.

If anyone makes a crack about this being the equivalent of helping the elderly across the road I'll borrow Reb's ban-hammer. And I won't be using it for banning. [>:]

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (8/6/2012 11:03:07 PM)

It is beginning to feel like a conversation between a patient and a carer in an home for the elderly. [:D]

HughesRoss -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (9/6/2012 10:32:12 AM)

Count me in!

I am going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, but I can help you with some Burps when you want or need them[:)]

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (9/6/2012 10:29:02 PM)

Adverts you say?[sm=33.gif] Does the Frosties add where the annoying kid rhymes 'grrrrreat' with 'gate' count? I mean, it wasn't Iron Man levels of scary, but it does have a Serbian Film, gouge your eyes, scrub your brain type feel to it.

Cats with thumbs [&:]

Beetlejuice! -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 2:40:33 PM)

I'm gonna be terribly old fashioned and just send in a list of 25 movies [:D]

Don't think I remember that one. They should do horror film inspired food ads. They could do A Serbian Film inspired one where they pull out someone's teeth and choke them to death with a baguette.

You ever read Fluffy by Theodore Sturgeon?

Same here I think.

I reckon I'll struggle to get beyond 25 films because I haven't really been frightened by a film, programme or book since I watched American Werewolf in London as a kid. I've found things revolting and I've been disgusted by things but for me a horror is something that makes you scared or at least creeped out not something that makes you feel nauseous.

Outside of a few films it's not really a genre I get excited by but I shall endeavour to send in a list.

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 5:37:56 PM)

Lists of 25 are fine, as are lists of just films. [:)]

Just realised with that one that you link to one of my many aborted personal lists rather than the poll list. [:D]

This is the link needed

Yeah, it made the list last year.

Ha, that's awesome.

Now to find a way to crowbar it onto my 70's list [sm=33.gif]

So have you read Fluffy? [:D]

Both Brazil and Muppet Christmas Carol are ineligible for the 70s list. I'm putting my foot down. [:D]

elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 5:57:06 PM)

Fluffy?

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 6:03:24 PM)

I asked you a few posts back if you'd ever read Fluffy by Theodore Sturgeon. Never mind, the nurse will be around soon with your pills and hot chocolate. [:D]

elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 6:12:57 PM)

I've not - I'm not sure I've read any of his stuff. Although I'm wondering if I know his name because of the L Ron Hubbard thing.

He wrote some of the original Star Trek eps, so you might know him from that. It's just you mentioned cats and Fluffy is a story about a lovely little kitty...

elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 6:24:11 PM)

Do I look like a 10 post newbie?

Away and try your innocent wee suggestions on the gullible [:-]

rawlinson -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 6:27:17 PM)

I've been doing some research to try and help remind myself of some short stories to include in my list for this, there was actually a short story collection focused solely on horror stories about cats.

elab49 -> RE: Empire Horror List: Year Two Poll (10/6/2012 6:29:19 PM)

I bet it was the biggest short story collection on the planet [:D]
