It's been over a year since the last results were posted, so time for a year two of the horror list. As the last year we made a top 300, complete with reviews and images, it shouldn't take too long to actually put the thread up as I can raid that one for most of the entries. So I'm going to leave a longer period for voting, closing the thread at the end of September, then I'm going to run down the list throughout October, as a Halloween treat. So no extensions on deadlines for this one. Lists of anywhere from 25 - 150 films. Anyone have any strong feelings on controversial choices from last time? In other words, should we ban The Muppets?

Already working on a list.

I don't know if I'm the only one to consider my third choice as a horror flick, but I'm going to go for it, because I'm a rebel and that's how I roll.

Don't forget, t.v. shows are fine as long as they tell a contained story, eps of an anthology show, individual stories from Dr. Who, Sapphire & Steel, series like Quatermass or The Fades. Just nothing multi-series like The X-Files, or including Dr. Who as one choice. You'd have to choose X-Files: Home, Dr. Who: Blink, etc.

By the way, was Predator banned last time? I reckon it qualifies but I thought I'd check,

Nothing was banned in the end, I don't think. Predator qualifies as a monster movie. Although there's literally hundreds of better horror films out there.[:D]

It would have to be the whole film rather than one sequence.

Hmmm, episode wise then, if it's a two-parter story do you have to vote for the second part? Say, the Empty Child - that was nightmare inducing, but the Doctor Dances wasn't at all.

Also - it's, y'know, fucking Pirates of the Carribean.

Two of the films out of that franchise are basically the worst things to happen to humanity since Osama bin Laden.

I do like some of their songs, and I'm also listening to PJ Harvey right now which means I'm eclectic but unless she makes a video full of werewolves, vampires and zombies I won't be voting for her in this poll.

I'm actually considering saying it has to be a horror film this time, not vaguely influenced, or a way for you to splurge on your spank bank.

No, but the Muppets are better than Hamlet [:D]

MCC might not be scary, but if I voted for only films I found scary I'd have a very short list. A lot of films that are classic horrors and have intentions to scare just don't work on me. Maybe MCC was intended to scare but it just doesn't work on a lot of people (clutching at straws here!) And I still reckon their version of the Ghost Of Christmas Yet to Come is the best on screen so far and in terms of creating an unsettling atmosphere that sequence is better than anything the likes of Carpenter and Argento have done, and they'll be in here [:D]

If we rule out Muppets, then we also rule out all non-horror films that use horror imagery, from Backstreet Boys videos to things like Blackbeard's Ghost, the Pirates films, etc. Anyone have strong feelings either way?
