Your Funny Uncle -> Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (21/5/2012 8:45:31 AM)

New show that's been picked up in the US from the Pilot. I think it looks promising....

I've never read any of the comics, much like The Walking Dead so will be watching it blind so to speak...

I'm pretty sure no knowledge of the comics will be needed.

Zaphod121 -> RE: Arrow (22/5/2012 1:57:23 PM)

Yes, it seems they've changed the names of one of the characters who's played by Katie Cassidy and name of the city he lives in. Unlike The Walking Dead which only has one (massive) story there are many Green Arrow stories, I doubt this will follow any particular one. Looks like it could be pretty good though!

No, but like Smallville, Birds of Prey etc. there'll probably be a few in-jokes and references for fanboys/girls.

It's a bit interesting they've gone with a GA reboot straight after Smallville ended, seeing as he featured quite prominently for the last few seasons. But it's a fresh start I guess, and I've got no problem with that. The Aquaman pilot a few years ago was more of a mis-step for me, seeing as though they'd already introduced him in Smallville with a different actor. But I guess it worked out for Justin Hartley in the end!

Probably but for people who don't read the comics (like myself) that won't make any difference.

buffster28 -> RE: Arrow (23/5/2012 6:57:05 PM)

yeah looks good - i'll certainly be watching. hope it ends up more like smallville than birds of prey though.

New Trailer!

Clicky!

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Arrow (22/9/2012 11:34:24 AM)

Starts in October on Sky1 [:)]

buffster28 -> RE: Arrow (23/9/2012 4:16:55 PM)

it looks really good from the trailer now showing - am really desperate to know when it starts exactly.

Base -> RE: Arrow (23/9/2012 6:34:41 PM)

I never watched Smallville, aside from a few odd episodes here and there, is it the same actor or a completely new take on it?? He's quite a bit older in the comics, no? Looks worth a look anyway...

No and yes. [:)]

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Arrow (26/9/2012 10:25:38 AM)

Sky1 are REALLY pushing the adverts for this....I'm guessing they have high expectations.

Sinatra -> RE: Arrow (26/9/2012 11:12:22 AM)

I am a huge Smallville fan, so I was looking forward to this anyway, but after seeing all the adverts I can't bloody wait... looks quite dark and edgy![:)]

buffster28 -> RE: Arrow (26/9/2012 1:24:52 PM)

my thoughts exactly

Chief -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (3/10/2012 9:51:49 AM)

I'd never heard of this until I seen the trailer last night, now I'm really looking forward to it. Mind you, the only shows I've been looking forward to like this before have been Falling Skies and Terra Nova so........

buffster28 -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (3/10/2012 3:15:55 PM)

start date

Arrow s1 – October 22nd Sky 1 8:00pm.

porntrooper -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (3/10/2012 3:20:22 PM)

Is the bloke in this, the same bloke that replaced Andy Whitfield in Spartacus?

I wasnt too interested in it and had, maybe mistakenly, written it off as a Twilight-esque teen take on a comic book, or as a replacement for Smallville (a show I hated), but the trailers are making it look pretty damn good. Has it begun to air in the US yet, if so, whats the word?

buffster28 -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (3/10/2012 3:24:29 PM)

the lead is Stephen Amell who appeared in a couple of eps of The Vampire Diaries.

Funkyrae -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (9/10/2012 2:17:40 PM)

I'm really looking forward to this. I can see it working veeerrry well as a series. I have high hopes for it. Of course, this means they could be dashed, but you know. High hopes.

elab49 -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (11/10/2012 2:49:45 PM)

Do we have a US speed thread for this?

And no - comics are an irrelevance for this one. There might be the odd name for comic fans to go 'ahh' but that's about it. I stopped watching Smallville years ago and rarely read comics he was in and it wasn't any issue.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (21/10/2012 6:00:15 AM)

Starts tomorrow! [:)]

Chief -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (22/10/2012 11:40:08 AM)

To watch live or record and watch later/tomorrow.... Fucking hate adverts.

Your Funny Uncle -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (22/10/2012 5:56:06 PM)

Everything I watch is recorded. EVERYTHING.

elab49 -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (22/10/2012 7:27:39 PM)

I'm quite surprised this is on at 8pm on Sky - did they maybe schedule it before finding out how violent it was? Or could it even be cut?

jcthefirst -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (22/10/2012 9:16:45 PM)

God, that was boring. The guy playing Oliver is so so so bland.

James2183 -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (22/10/2012 9:37:21 PM)

Only half way through the first episode but this is awful. I've lost count of the amount of times I have cringed already. The acting and scripting are just [:'(]

EDIT: Finished the episode, even worse than I thought. I saw the 'twist' a mile off. Awful.

Yep, have to agree with that. Don't like him at all.

Was looking forward to a gritty action drama but it wasn't to be [&o]

borstal -> RE: Arrow - UK/Sky1 Speed (23/10/2012 8:43:10 AM)

My 12 year old was impressed [:D]

It was silly but its a nice change from Boardwalk/Homeland etc. Some mindless popcorn TV for the family to watch.
